Great to see you back posting again Grumpy. That summed up exactly how a lot of us feel I'm sure !

They're all crawling out of the woodwork now. Welcome back grumpymonkey. Have you considered a name change? Jubilantmonkey has a certain ring to it...

I was made up with that performance last night. Made up with meeting the lads in the Harry before the game, & made up seeing the way our fans treated a young lad on his birthday like he owned the establishment & was our greatest player all rolled into one. Made up with our debutant's performance, class, vision, touch, everything.

To top it off I come on here & see you've started posting again & read this wonderful post.

Very well written & spot on too. Nice to have you back.

It's been so long we even forgot him in the "poster who should post more" category.

Hence it should be renamed "The grumpymonkey award" to go along with the "Krump award for newbies"

Great read GM it was like reading from the football column in the paper..
Keep it up lad..

Great post. Threads like this make me love you guys. All of you.

I've been really torn about whether I am going to be able to make it to my Season ticket game in April because I'm going to Miami less than two weeks before. With this kind of optimism I really want to make it happen.

The biggest compliment I can give the author is I assumed that the original post had been copied and pasted from a piece by an established, respected journalist.
An excellent read.

Liverpool always tends to the romantic, and it's very easy to say "not to get carried away but" and then get carried away, which I think is what you've done.

The fact is that our style of play hasn't been shit for years and years, it's been shit for two years, and a return to what we had two years ago would be a massive improvement on the best of our current play. Just because we've finally exorcised the demons: H&G, Hodgson, and the last big rat who jumped right when it was evident the ship wasn't sinking, doesn't mean that we have resolved the damage that has been wrought on the club over the last few years. We've had an improved approach, and improved results and performances, but to really get back where we need to be will take a series of good decisions, consistent performances, and we can't even evaluate the ones we've made thus far. We've no idea how Suarez and Carroll will pan out.

So yes, a much improved platform, the lifting of the last symptoms of a severe acute disease, and that most intoxicating sense of momentum. We certainly deserve to get carried away, but there are still fundamental, chronic issues that need addressing, and a particularly competitive environment for those decisions. You can write ballads to Kenny, and I'll love reading them, but you can't write this new chapter in Liverpool's history just yet, it's all just romance. I know Kenny has magic, and we've got hope again, but we're just at the beginning.

Superb thread.

Suarez often shoots early and with disguise before the 'keeper can react which is something Fowler was an absolute master at.

I also cannot wait to see Carroll playing for Liverpool. His potential is incredible.

Who says Grumpymonkey isn't just that? 😉

Wow Grumpy - as others have said here that was a great read! looking forward to reading more of your posts and thoughts.

Great thread and well written post.

Kenny has lit our fire. I can't tell you how good it is to finally see the return of pass and move after 20 years.

We are making a return to the breathtaking awesomeness of yesteryear!

[/quote] Reminds me of the time I was at a friends wedding in Herts.
At the reception I approached a lady who had sung during the wedding service.
I complimented her on her singing and how beautiful it was (it truely was) and said that it was as good as listening to a professional opera singer.
To which she replied that she was a professional opera singer.
The conversation went rapidly downhill after that. :-[
