[article=http://www.marca.com/en/2015/06/26/en/football/spanish_football/1435337249.html]For many, 'less is more', and that certainly appears to be the case for Arda Turan. He did not use those exact words, but the Turk has explained his reasons for wanting to leave Atlético de Madrid: the money on offer at other clubs and the physical demands of Simeone's playing style.

The club had wanted the player to say exactly what he wanted, rather than listen to his agent. Following the trip to China, that conversation finally took place over the phone and the midfielder apologised for Ahmet Bulut's behaviour, but confirmed what his agent had said: that he wants out.

He wants to leave because he is struggling with the physical demands of Cholo's game. He would rather play in a system in which he is exempt from defensive duties. Arda missed several big games with what seemed to be minor injuries, including the last game of the 2013/14 season, the Champions League final, the last game of last season and the key game in their quest for third place, against Granada.

Atlético have told the Turk the conditions under which he may leave the club. His buy-out clause is €41m. Although they may not insist on as much, the club will only listen to serious offers.[/article]

Exempt from defensive duties?

He'd fit right in as a CB for us.

[article=http://www.marca.com/en/2015/07/01/en/football/barcelona/1435773877.html]The first transfer bombshell of the summer is here: Arda Turan is close to joining Barcelona, who have offered Atlético de Madrid €35m to get their man.

Turkish playmaker has a €41m release clause.

Turan and his agent had made it clear in recent days that a move away from the 'Rojiblancos' was on the cards, but what no one had expected was that the 28-year-old would end up at another Spanish club.

Chelsea and Manchester United had been hotly tipped as the likeliest destinations for the maverick midfielder, who wowed the Calderón crowd on so many occasions over the last few seasons.

Like Aleix Vidal, Arda will be unable to play for Barcelona in competitive action until the club's FIFA transfer ban has run its course, i.e. until January 2015.[/article]

[article=http://www.sport-english.com/en/news/barca/barcelona-set-sign-atletico-madrids-turkish-midfielder-arda-turan-4321183]Arda Turan will become the second signing of the summer at FC Barcelona. The Catalan club have reached an agreement with Atletico Madrid and the player for a transfer to take place during the current window.

The Turkish player's release clause is 41 million euros, although Barça will not have to pay that much. Josep Maria Bartomeu completed the agreement during a recent meeting in Ibiza with Atletico's Gil Marin. For now, the terms of the Arda's contract are unknown and it's not been revealed where he will play until January, when Barça can register players again.

Now, the only doubt is when Arda Turan will begin to work under Luis Enrique. Pre-season begins on July 13, with elections taking place on July 18. In the case that Lucho wants him from the first day, it will be the iterim board that complete the transfer. If Lucho can wait, the new board will finalise the agreement.

With Arda Turan, Barcelona strengthen their options in midfield with a player who has impressed in Spain while playing for Atletico Madrid.

The player has already announced his decision to leave the Rojiblanco and has finally decided to accept Barça's offer over the ones on the table from Chelsea and Manchester United. [/article]

How is Barcelona allowed to sign players? Were they not banned from buying new players until 2016?

Think it basically means the signed players can't play for them until then.

[article=http://www.espnfcasia.com/story/2267207/barcelona-president-tells-fifa-real-madrid-shouldnt-be-punished-change-transfer-rules]Since the ban was confirmed by the Court of Arbitration for Sport, local reports have claimed that Barca were looking at ways of at least in part getting around the punishment, such as signing players and letting them remain at their current club until the ban term ends next year, or loaning them elsewhere.

The Blaugrana chief told RAC 1 that he expected potential new marquee signings to play a role in the club's upcoming presidential election.

"Barca will be able to sign whoever the club wants, another thing is that [the new player] would not be able to play until January 2016," Bartomeu said. "Of course there will be talk about players during the presidential elections. There are ways of doing it."[/article]

[article=http://www.espnfcasia.com/barcelona/story/1994228/fifa-reject-barca-appeal-over-transfer-ban]Barcelona will be able to sign players up to the end of the summer transfer window on Sept. 1 before the ban comes into force in January and extends through next summer. They will not be able to add to their squad again until January 2016.[/article]

[article=http://www.espnfcasia.com/barcelona/story/1994228/fifa-reject-barca-appeal-over-transfer-ban]As such, FC Barcelona is to serve a transfer ban which will see the club prevented from registering any players at both national and international level for two complete and consecutive transfer periods, starting with the next registration period (January 2015) given that the appeal of the club had been granted suspensive effect by the chairman of the FIFA Appeal Committee.[/article]

The fact that Simeone didn't trust him for the big games says it all.

And there are many similarities between Simeone & Mourinho's tactics so I cannot see why Chelsea would sign him as Mourinho has often benched/sold players who don't do the defensive jobs (Hazard, Schurrle etc).

It's just in the most recent season, I think he's been well trusted to play in all the big games - he was key in their title winning season.

Luis Enrique is pretty demanding as are Barca in general so I don't see that he'll be able to coast there.
