If we can get them to pay his wages for a season and make sure they don't have the option to return him before the full season is complete, then it's a fantastic piece of business.
We don't know all the detailed circumstances of the Reina situation so IMO we shouldn't make assumptions that a deal for Lucas will necessarily turn out the same way. The club certainly needs to give it careful thought, though.

New Spurs boss Mauricio Pocchetino has told reorters ahead of their first pre-season game this evening that he doesn't expect there to be a 'big change' in personnel a the club. When asked about transfers he said: "Not many. We have a very good and big squad. Last summer the club made a big effort during the window and I believe in these players. We are always looking to improve but we don't expect big change."

Yea, fair enough. I just feel the similarities because Lucas as a player might be on a downwards slope and could well go there for a year, come back aged 28 having not impressed and still be contracted to us for another two seasons on good wages. We could end up with another take a pittance / pay the player off type scenario like I believe is going to happen with Reina.
Although I have to say I don't think Lucas is at all like that but if we don't see a future for him I'd rather have the cash than loan a 27 year old.
Heh. He was the first thing that popped into my head as well. He's inextricably tied with the world "inconceivable".
