Transfer rumours

I remember saying that Barcelona paying £100m plus for Dembele after ONE season in Germany - in which he scored a grand total of 6 league goals - was the most absurd transfer of recent years.

He's definitely talented, but he's obviously another braindead fuckwit. His career could go down the pan if he's not careful. Been a twat at all 3 clubs and he's only what, 20?

He's 22. But yeah, thick as fuck and addicted to fast food and video games, so he trains badly, is very often late, and according to one source is the "most fined Barcelona player in history"

Fucking hell. Hard to see him turning all that around. If playing at Barcelona alongside Messi doesn't motivate you, nothing will.

The thing about De Beek is that he plays like with such uncommon intelligence, always moving to find space and aware of everyone else's movement and position. A player groomed as Ajax's #10 through every academy level must possess extraordinary football skill and intelligence... but I have to say he looks kind of stupid, almost Moreno-ish with that haircut. So far I have not found a way to reconcile those two facts.

Just saw this on Ajax's twitter:

Marco Asensio made available for transfer

Marco Asensio has reportedly been made available for transfer by Real Madrid.

The Spaniard has been heavily linked with Liverpool in the past and Spanish publication AS are claiming Los Blancos are demanding an £85million fee for his services.
Real Madrid have spent nearly £300million already this summer, while Asensio’s has often been the subject of speculation due to limited game-time.
With the likes of Eden Hazard moving to the Bernabeu, a departure seems likelier than ever. But will Jurgen Klopp make a move?

Yeah, but oh boy what a player when he wants to be.

Unfortunately it looks like he might be irredeemably crackers, but still. Maybe the most thrilling player running with the ball I've ever seen. Crazy talented.

Hmm, I know Madrid need to get players off the books, but I'd be surprised if they actually sold him. He's still young, crazy talented, marketable and Modric is getting on a bit now. He's the sort of talent we should be looking at.

Not 100% sold on Asensio.

The talent is definitely there, it's more the physical side of things.

He had serious issues with both of his knees during his teenage years - nothing to do with injuries, but more to do with growth.

I believe he had to take a full year off football due to the pain he was in.

Not sure if this effects him now but definitely a concern considering what happened with the Fekir deal.

He's been there for a number of years now and every year was supposed to be "his year" where he was supposed to be a big part of the squad. It never materialized and he never asked to move. I have no idea whether he is too comfortable or just lack ambition but he is another we need to break the bank for in terms of wages while being totally unconvincing.

For the good of the squad i'll say pass as well.

Imagine if someone told us just over three years ago that we'd go to 3 successive European finals and be the champions of Europe by 2019, and we'd be saying no thanks to Asensio.
It was said Klopp liked him, may still be the case. If Klopp wants him, I'll be 100% convinced he will be a hit

By the same logic, I have to say I am slightly baffled by Real's mega splash on Jovic. He's had an amazing season with Frankfurt alright but it's still only one season.

Well, at least it was "amazing" by some kind of standards. Dembele did half as much and cost twice as much.
You were proven right with Dembele, with your emphasis on goals scored/assist records for players, but he really is a crazy talent if you watch a few of his games.
Seems he’s a complete dickhead that makes Zaha look a model pro so he might well tank, but if he ever gets his act together he could easily become one of the best attacking midfielders/wingers in the world. He’ll probably never play for us so hope he tanks though.

It's only right that a player of Lovren's class - he is, after all, one of the best defenders in the world* - should go to a team like Milan and take over the mantle of previous Milan greats like Maldini, Nesta, Zambrotta et al

*source: Dejan Lovren

He’ll prob want to bring no6 out of retirement 😀

Mauricio Pochettino is back in Barcelona – the city he calls home – and he is waiting. The Tottenham manager is waiting to see whether the chairman, Daniel Levy, and the club’s recruitment staff can deliver on any of his transfer targets, who include Tanguy Ndombélé, Donny van de Beek, Nicolò Zaniolo and Ryan Sessesgnon.
Pochettino has made it plain he wants to refresh at Spurs and a part of that means introducing new players for the first time since January 2018. There has even been the subtext that he would consider his position if Levy were to disappoint him.

Van De Beek feels like the Christian Eriksen transfer all over again – a player who is flying under the radar somewhat, despite the obvious quality and decisive contributions on the big stage. Naturally, Spurs are very interested in him as a possible Eriksen replacement and seem like the most likely destination if none of the big boys act decisively. Seeing Eriksen join Spurs for almost nothing and produce consistent top-class performances for them year after year, while we sorely lacked a true midfield creator all that time, has been one of my biggest transfer regrets of recent years; I would really hate to see a repeat of that.

He is a good player but he has never reached a "high" for me. Son, Alli and Kane have each produced performances in their career for a period which is near world class but not Eriksen. I am not convinced and i see him staying with Spurs because the usual suspects seems unwilling to splurge on him either.

But your point on him being a bargain is valid. If De Beek is going to be anywhere near Eriksen's standard and original price it should be a no brainer.

He's fucking brilliant.

Maybe he'll never reach his potential or anything like it, but his potential is ridiculous.
