Weren't we "looking to sell" Fabinho in January? Turned out to be a complete non-story.

That being said, if Keita doesn't win a starting place in the first few months of next season, I could see him and LFC parting ways. Klopp doesn't allow his CMs too much freedom of expression; we see this with Wijnaldum who turns into a different player in his national team, and in his notable preference for the reliability of Hendo, Gini and Milner over the flair of Keita and early-season Fabinho. It's possible that Klopp and Keita are simply not compatible with each other's style, just like Pogba and Mourinho.

Is it really the case that Klopp doesn’t allow his CMs too much freedom? Even the most advanced ones?
When Keita played the most advanced position, he was positioned high, ran into any space he wanted. It’s just that he wasn’t able to do much at all in crowded areas. He seems incapable of it. That’s not Klopp’s instructions.
When Coutinho played the most advanced role, he was allowed to do whatever he wanted when we had the ball. Scored goals and made assists.
Where are you getting this impression from?

The difference is that Klopp went all out to get Keita knowing what kind of player he is.

Barcelona open to selling Coutinho for offer upwards of £90m - sources
play

Barcelona are open to selling Philippe Coutinho should they receive a bid upwards of £90 million, despite the Brazil international's desire to stay, sources have told ESPN FC. Coutinho has been in and out of the starting lineup this season, and was even booed by his own supporters during a 3-1 victory over Rayo Vallecano. The 26-year-old has been linked with a move away and while there have been no official bids, there is interest in the midfielder.
"Barcelona do not have a firm offer from any club at this point, but some have expressed an interest in the player," a source at the club told ESPN FC. "Key people, who are either directly or indirectly linked with various clubs have been following the situation closely."
Manchester United and Chelsea are among the sides linked with a move for Coutinho.
He is hoping to be given a longer run in the first team before the end of the campaign. In 41 matches this season, he has contributed nine goals and five assists --and he has generally struggled to live up to his price tag since his £105m move from Liverpool in January 2018.
Despite his issues on the pitch, it is understood Coutinho is considered a popular member of the team
He is generally a very happy player who enjoys training, but when he goes onto the pitch, something happens and it doesn't go well," the source added. "He has more than enough quality to be a starter and we hope he regains his confidence."

Oh I can't stop thinking of his entourage and his family who were so keen to push for a move to Barca. I usually don't enjoy this kind of thing, and we did get a lot of money, but he should have waited till the end of the season
I guess this means we won't get the full 145m for him? As he won't have satisfied enough clauses.

Don't know if we'll be willing to spend this kind of money this summer, but if we do and offer roughly same money as Bayern, I think we'll have an advantage for 2 reasons:
  1. We offer a more stable environment for a young player than a team in transition whose coach is likely to be fired. The fact that we eliminated Bayern in the CL could also play a role.
  2. Bayer's DOF Rudi Voeller hates Munich and will do everything to avoid selling their best player to them.

Our Midfield is very congested, someone would have to go to make room for him, in your view who would it be?

Appaz interested in Bruno Fernandes. Think we have been linked with him before. 24 year old playing for Sporting, attacking midfielder.
Scored 24 goals this season.

No its definitely ‘aint’

Could have got him for free. The other two that have left Sporting have struggled

Nope, think he stayed loyal to the club.

Bruno Fernandes, one of nine players who quit Sporting Lisbon last month after an attack by angry supporters, rejoined the club on Tuesday.
Fernandes, 23, signed until 2023 with a release clause set at €100 million and revealed that, despite receiving better offers from other club, he chose to return after Sporting guaranteed improved security for himself, other players and their families.

This one is good though, but Sporting will probably demand a astronomical fee, so it will be a no go regardless
