Heh, I'm on the Wirral now

Would have gone had I known..

*thinks about it*

STEVEN GERRARDDDDDDD!!!!!

On a sidenote, isn't that Ecclestone lad not on our books anymore, or am I just mixed up?

Hmm, just noticed Adam Hammill is also on the team as well. He really isnt going to make it now aite?

This is pretty dire.

Weren't they aware I was going to be tuning in for 20 minutes of the first half when I'm supposed to be working? Step it up now lads.

Dreadful marking for the goal, some shortarse nodding in with his incredibly large fod.

HT, one nil to Merseysides second team.

[/quote]What great pre season we're having..

I've only watched the 2nd half, and I've enjoyed what I've seen. Hammil has been very lively since he came on, and teed up SG's goal.

Stevie G got the equalizer with a shot from outside the box. Keeper prolly should've saved it though.

Our reserves squad is fucking HUGE.

Hammill wins a pen and converts to make it 2-2 in the dying minutes.

Aldo came in his pants.

Hammil looks a really confident and busy player. Kind of like El Zhar with an end result.

He's looked really impressive each time I've seen him. I can't understand why he has to bugger off on loan all the time.

How Hammill is not in the first team squad is beyond me. He's skillful, direct and works hard and is desperate to play for his boyhood club. He's certainly better than El Zhar and is less of a shithouse than Babel.

Maybe his face just doesn't fit.

There was lots of talk about him a couple of years ago and the glowing references were always followed with "plays when he feels like it" and "attitude problem". It's clear though it's not talent that's holding him back.

The lad has been on loan 3 times and looks to have matured a lot. I doubt his attitude is an issue anymore. Maybe Benitez just sees him as someone who can boost the transfer kitty and feels he has to give chances to those he bought himself.

The time and money we've wasted waiting for Babel to grow a spine could have been used to develop Hammill in the squad.

He's developed a cult following from the local support wherever he's went. He was getting rave reviews in Scotland particularly, and both Old Firm clubs tried to secure his services on loan, and whilst Burley was manager at Southampton, he was playing brilliantly for them.

He made a lot of the other boys look like headless chickens by comparison.

In fairness, you have to expect him to be on another level to most of those kids. He's 21 and has been playing league football, whereas some of them have just left the Academy.

Anyway, as has already been said, his talent has never been in question - it's just whether he could put it to good use. He seems to have matured a lot and is more than willing to wait for his chance at Liverpool. The fact that he's been left behind after the club supposedly wanting to run the rule over him in pre-season doesn't really suggest it's coming though.

So why not sell him to Barnsley. Pointless keeping him around if he's not part of his plans.

Maybe he's been inured or is being tested. I can't think of any other reason why he's not played a bigger part in pre season.

I don't know. I thought he would've travelled with the first team squad and given a chance to show what he can do after reading that interview.

Maybe, as you say, he's had a bit of an injury... maybe he'll get a chance when the squad gets back. Maybe we just fancied waiting for a better offer. Who knows.

It's cos he's a scouser.

If he were from somewhere then he'd well be in the first team.
