FFS, stay out of this thread with that negative bollocks.

Totti - what a fucking player.

Depressing that what will be his final roma season, has all gone a bit wrong for him

Yep, maybe expected at 39.
One club player for life. 750 games, 300 goals and 200 odd assists. Insane player.

How so? I don't follow Italian football any more

He moaned that he didn't get enough playing time. It started a war between him the manager. Not his or the managers fault. When a fantastic player that played for the club his whole career get benched then the supporters blame the manager or the player.

I watched Chelsea vs Roma pre season game in DC three to four years ago. This was when Mourinho took over. Totti was the best player on the pitch by a mile. The touch, skill, vision were out of the world.

I remember watching RM vs Roma @ Giants Stadium ~13 years ago ... He stood out, despite sharing the pitch with the Galacticos.

Thanks, it's always going to end that way or something similar with a club legend. Sad.

My favourite player in football, nothing but admiration for the man.

How many other players have managed to reinvent themselves as much as Totti has?

Started off as a winger, then established himself as one of the best attacking mids, moved on to being as a striker ... and then when he lost his speed, reinvented himself a false 9 under Luciano Spalletti - and in doing so, finished as the top goal scorer in Europe that season.

Over the hill now, but played a majority of his career in Serie A while it was in it's pomp. Respect.

Nice Wiz.

Dreambelievers comment at the top says it all. That anyone could not see him as one of the best players in football the last 20 years is beyond me.

I cant be arsed doing the justifying. I think he is a genius. At Madrid or Barca he would have been one of the greatest of all time, but he stayed at Roma and im sure is happier being their greatest of all time.

Broken hearted that he is probably done playing now.
Along with Maradona and Zidane he is the other of my top 3 of all time.

[article]Francesco Totti’s renowned playing career with Roma looks set to be drawing ever closer to an unsavoury end, as the club rejected his most recent proposal of playing an additional season without pay.

Following the continued controversy concerning the Italian’s future at the club, his diminishing contract looks increasingly likely to expire on June 30, with the prospect of a renewal looking a distant possibility.

This latest development was confirmed by Rete Sport, who claimed that Totti’s hopes of a new deal are now almost non-existent.

It has been claimed that Roma president, James Pallotta, is not worried about the financial aspect of Totti’s future at the club, although is keen on him becoming a director.

Therefore, the contradiction is clear between the two differing parties, as Totti is adamant that he is physically capable of playing for another 12 months, whereas the hierarchy are eager to end his footballing career at the end of the current campaign.

However, this latest development has been rejected by Pallotta, who has claimed that the offensive story is false.

“It is a lie,” Pallotta insisted. “Someone is trying to sully the name of one of the greatest players ever.”

If Totti is to leave the Giallorossi, he has a number of offers from the Arab Emirates, China and the United States, although this could perhaps complicate the possibility of him becoming a director at a later date.[/article]
