Tottenham Hotspur v Liverpool - Match Thread

Good win, we were really good and should have had more goals really. Spurs were all over the place, Mourinho was trying to be a smart arse and it backfired. Good performance by Henderson, but he didn't have alot to do, but still played a part going forward. We've missed him of late, back tonight and back to winning ways.

So Firmino and Salah are rested against Burnley and then turn in productive performances in the following game against United.

Mane is rested against United. And then turns in a great performance the following game against Spurs.

Coincidence? I think not.

This is why Jota was vital.

I don't know how much the throw-in coach gets paid but it's too much! We need a refresher course pronto.

The first goal matters so much in a game against a Mourinho team.

And this game was opened up by a wonderful pass from Hendo.

The sort Virgil would make frequently. (see Mane goal against Bayern, or Lallana goal against Wolves).

Part of what we miss at the back.

Is it a coincidence that we had 50% posession today instead of 70% or more and were able to get at their back 4 with regularity

TBH I don't think so. We sat back after the 3rd goal and when we were dominating we had over 60% possession. I think Klopp's comment was spot on re. this performance .. THIS is what we are.

I think we have come to realise how important the player quota is. Unless we come to find more homegrown players good enough to play for us, sicknotes like Keita or Matip surely have to go so we can have more reliable options.

How is that even possible? The man finished the half seemingly okay.

It's quite crazy. I can understand it if he pulls a hamstring or was on the end of a bad tackle while playing but this guy just seems to walk around outside of the game and get mysterious injuries, not unlike Keita.

I love the guy, I think he is a character and a very good player when he is fit but he's gotta go.
