Torres "I won't follow Benitez to Real Madrid"

I'd say the Real Madrid job is more suitable for a manager approaching the end of his career, as they don't tend to last long, do they? I doubt whether Benitez would find it an attractive proposition as long as he feels his tenure at Anfield is secure.

Agreed. My guess is that the head always wins over the heart where Rafa's concerned. It might appeal to him to go back to Real one day, but not until his time here has run its course.

Its now laughable to suggest he would leave here and go there. He owns every aspect of this clubs policy now, he is recruiting and filling all positions with his people, signing his players etc, no way does he trade that in to be carlos queroz.

What kind of dimwit would even contend such a notion after he just signed a new contract last month.

Torres I guess judging by the title of this thread.

Well, he's got the looks, the money and the feet but guess he turned up late when the brains were being handed out 😀

In fairness to Torres, this kind of headline usually results from a journalist's question.

Journalist: If Benitez went to Real Madrid, would you follow him?
Torres: No.
Headline: Torres says that he isn't following Benitez to Real.

Exactly. Torres is very intelligent; just pointing out that he'd never play for the 'wrong' Madrid team probably.

rafa to real madrid, oh how i wish. that would last all of one season when he'll realise just how good he had it here. as far as i'm concerned he can leave right now if he wants to go there seeing as he's failed to win anything for the last 3 years. 😉

What's the longest we have gone without winning a trophy since 1990?

Uncle Roy and Souness won cups, and obv Houllier did too

The gap between the League Cup in 94-95 and the treble in 2000-2001?
