I'm not sure if it was mentioned on here; but after being dragged by the missus to the library I found myself holding a copy of his book.
I've read Carra's Gerrard's and Shankly's (the latter two courtesy of Oncy 8) ), but Torres' book is actually very good.
It really shows a little into what makes him tick.
I think he's off soon, though anyone and his dog would see that.
But a lot of people I think underestimate his loyalty to a club and he's seemed torn in trying to balance his loyalty to a club and his need to achieve. He's admitted that Champions League football was a massive draw for him to come here and our current predicament must be hard to take.
Yes, he should be trying his level best to get us out of it but I do think his decision to stay here this season was partly motivated by feeling some need to help us while he could.
It's only a matter of time before he leaves though; if we dont get back into the CL.
ANyway, I was quite impressed by his book..there's lots of interesting snippets explaining his armband. He really put in a lot of effort to learn English (even training himself to answer 'want' ads) and acquaint himself with life in Liverpool and Reina was a big help to him.Apparently Reina had it tough initially too and it was Morientes who helped him.
(Has an unhealty admiration for Aragones though)
Some funny bits too.
He'd met Rafa shortly after his child was born and Rafa said 'congrats'...Torres thanked him and then Rafa went on about the goal he'd scored..Torres ddnt realise that Rafa as talking about his goal and not his baby ;D
He talks about the fans in almost a glowing waytoo; even admitted to sometimes wishing the fans would boo when they were playing badly and was so touched when they didnt..but the fact that he wasnt bood just made him more ashamed.
He really should make more of an effort on the pitch arguably, but no one can say he hasnt trid to integrate himself.
Wished someone had passed this book to Masher a year ago.
