Tonights CL games

Neymar was sensational , it was the best I've seen him perform by some distance

I only started watching from the 50th minute - take out a worldly free kick, the penalty & that sumptuous pass, he was FUCKING SHIT. He kept on losing the ball, kept on going down easily complaining to the ref and doing absolutely nothing for the team. No pressing nothing. I've seen him play far far better.

That was incredible. I couldn't help but smile - feel bad for PSG, but they have no one to blame but themselves (Barca were always going to score but Cavani (again) & Di Maria missed 1v1 with Ter Stegen when it was 3-1).

Pique is a brain fart.

  1. First goal defensive error
  2. Second Goal Defensive error
  3. Third goal defensive error
  4. Fourth goal - Keeper error
  5. Fifth goal defensive error
  6. Defensive error (ballwatching)
Amazing result, but is it just me, or is this really just down to PSG being god awful in defense. Barca were persistent but not much else? Or Am I going all Rosco Harsh?

4th goal was a fucking incredible fk -
5th goal was suarez diving ...

This is more like it. Bravo.

How many goals aren't defender error?

Barca pressured PSG into errors

Yeah - especially those scenes of Messi running round the Nou Camp with the trophy.

Oh
If it was a cup final it wouldn't even be a discussion point.

But the fact they needed 4, got 3 with 30 left, conceded, needed 3 more with 2 mins + stoppages to go and did it id incredible.

I thought they were quite lucky with the penalty decisions. Neymar and Suarez were diving all over the place during the whole game. That part of the game was dreadful.

So you're not allowed to celebrate overturning a humiliating result in dramatic fashion to stay in the cup?

Harsh.

yeah discount the fact that he was instrumental in a massive comeback and he was shit..

mental

mental

Where did I discount it (I did discount that he should have been sent off for kicking a PSG player in the box - that's probably mental too)?

I just said he was utter shite for most of the game - wasteful and diving non-stop.

This was definitely not one of his 'best games', despite how key he was in the last 7 minutes

I guess Owen doesn't want to be seen celebrating Barca's goal (as he played for Madrid), so he just makes a circle round the table, while Stevie and Rio go crazy. Stevie is probably rooting for his mate, Suarez, not sure why Rio is so happy.
Rio is celebrating for the same reason the average English football fan started supporting us in the CL final against Milan in 2005.
I remember hearing rival supporters call in to 606 to tell the story of how they were laughing at us at 3-0 down only to start supporting us at 3-3.

It's just the love of the game I guess.

The average English supporter started supporting us in Istanbul? What does "average" mean? Because if you think the "average" Everton, United, Arsenal, West Ham, Spurs or Chelsea fan suddenly started cheering us on, I have some news for you:

Did they FUCK.

I fucking missed this game. Anyone fancy helping an hombre out and giving me a link to the game? I can only get highlights on youtube and I fancy the whole enchilada. Cheers fellas.

At half-time I was screaming with delight as AC were hammering you, but what a brilliant second-half! It totally won me around. Congratulations!! Great credit must go to everyone at the club, and particulally Rafa who has performed miracles. Hopefully Gerrard will stay and you will be able to strengthen your squad and mount a real challenge in the league next season. I hope you do get the opportunity to defend the trophy next season.

Thankfully there are more teams in England then those listed above. I dont think fans of other clubs, apart from those who hate our guts, wouldnt cheer us on in that part of the game. For instance fans of teams who arent in the PL etc or have any obvious history and rivalry with us.
Agreed about the teams listed above mind. They probably went from laughing to crying.

As for Rio. He probably got caught up in the moment. I've found myself cheering for teams I have no connection with when attending a game and witnessing a late winner or something related. Thats probably "the love of the game" Modo is referring to. It still exists, thank God.

I didnt cheer for Barca mind. Mostly because they are a team of massive cunts and those two penalty decisions were poor.

Comparison is generally futile but....

On a technical basis, this was the best comeback in terms of goals behind and of course it see sawed from looking to inevitable, to improbable to reality.

Of course I'm going to say our comeback was better though and here's my reasons.

1. It was the final
2. Milan were so so much superior in the first half
3. Our strike force consisted of Milan Baros with Smicer in behind - not Messi, Suarez and Neymar.
4. We had Djimi Traore at LB and Jerzy Dudek in goal.
5. We didn't cheat and dive to achieve our comeback
6. We weren't at home, albeit we did have a numerical advantage in fans on the night

Of course all of this is totally subjective and is just my opinion. Last night was an incredible match, trying to compare is barely viable due to all the variables, despite my attempt above.

Anyway, 2005 was better. Fact!

... and, most importantly, it was US!

We were all buzzing off Istanbul for weeks, months, years ... . I calmed down from last nights match after about 30 minutes (or maybe seconds).

To me football is about that blind love, loyalty & tribalism, not about being as objective as possible and looking at events through "unbiased" specs. Anything LFC achieves is infinitely better than anything any other team ever achieves.

I'm a fan not an analyst

Not really ... we were serious under dogs. Also i think most people would have thought that Barca could do it if there was such a team that could stage such a comeback.

The penalty on Gerrard was a bit soft. Gattuso pushed him, but Gerrard milked it too. The one on Suarez last night was softer though.

Saw the first half last night. Missed the second. Heard the result . No fucks were given.

2005 on the other hand seems like yesterday.

Still think comparisons are pointless.
