As with Rafa, continuing to have a hard time holding onto the DM role n Zidane's team.

Casemiro (great FM player no?) has held his own here, and is starting tonight.

It looks like's gone this summer ...

I don't see him going back to Bayern ... Ancelotti loved Xabi at Real, and will probably stick with him 1-2 more years ...

I actually think he'd be a brilliant signing for us - not sure he has the defensive capability that Xabi had/has, but great passer, scores goals and is a fantastic midfielder.

Hmm , the only midfielder I'm genuinely bothered about keeping is can has workrate and ability are both good enough and hopefully he will get better . I wouldn't be against any of the others being replaced by kroos

If we get Kroos I wouldn't play him in the holding role. I'd have him in the same role Hendo occupies atm.

Doubt we can get him but would absolutly sign him if possible. Excellent midfielder.

Tony Cascarino. I once posed this question to him:

"Tony, I'm a big fan of tall, immobile, seemingly clumsy strikers who are a threat in the air but don't score many goals, so I'd take Andy Carroll to the world cup. What do you think?"

He took it with good grace, although considering his co-host was already laughing, he didn't have much choice.

Rather cruel really, considering the shabby event in a London pub that he agreed to speak at (for free) was actually organised by me.

How that twat got the gig at the Times is one of the mysteries of the age. On the radio he comes across as an illiterate halfwit who could hardly write his own name

Steve Claridge must be very jealous, given that's his speciality

To be fair,Sky and the BBC do seem to be showing some signs of improvement, but Cascarino, Claridge, Alan Smith and Garth Crooks are all completely fucking hopeless. As in "I love football, and I'd listen to this drivel if anyone else was talking, but these dimwits will be the end of me; turn over the cunting channel now.. now... NOW!" hopeless.

Garth Crooks seems to think he's intelligent. It's fucking bizarre.

Ah, yeah. Gareth Crooks.

Claridge probably isn't helped sometimes by how he sounds, plus he knows he's there to actually be the geezerish, Mike Bassett stereotype - and that's even with Robbie Savage around, who is actually much improved in fairness - but Garth Crooks is genuinely totally useless. A blithering lack wit

Some of his attempts at co-commentary and analysis are painfully funny in their ineptitude, as the various memes and clips of him around the internet illustrate

It is Steve Claridge on BBC 5 Live isn't it? Maybe I'm getting them all mixed up

Yeah but he isn't a correspondent for a national broadsheet

The Times have a quite amazing amount of 'lead/ byline photo' football writers. Almost like they're collecting them. Oliver Kay, Tony Barrett, Rory Smith and now Henry Winter. All Liverpool fans too. I think.

Or has Oliver Kay moved now? Can't keep up.

I've never really quite understood the appeal of 'ex-pro' writers, but they all have them.
