Positives:

- N'gog has now 5 goal in 8 games this season, despite playing up front on his own in a struggling team.

About time people started recognising that he's not "shit".

He is developing into a cracking little player. He still has a lot of developing to do but it looks like he will have a career in one of the top leagues. Outside of scoring goals he is also not afraid to take on the defender. If I am not wrong he won us free kick which resulted in our first goal against Man City by getting the better of a defender.

You're not wrong.

And yes, he's doing very well, and has been one of the few positives this season. Again, he was unafirly dismissed by the usual suspects on this site after his first few games for us, but he's proving to be an excellent purchase at 1.5m now.

I was one of them.

Now that I have calmed down a bit, hopefully players like Pacheco, Ecclestone, Ayala, Kelly, Amoo, Irwin will get a chance in the Europa league run and become useful squad players for the next season. Even if couple of them make the step up, they could save us the trouble of spending money on squad fillers.

“This has no bearing on Rafa whatsoever,†Purslow said. “He only signed a new five-year deal eight months ago and in those terms he is four months into a five-year journey. You don’t deviate from long-term plans for people.

“We budget for a level of performance where, let’s just say, as football fans is not where we would all want to be. We are prudent in what we budget. If we go into the Europa League and have three home games, we are financially equivalent on what we budgeted to achieve in the Champions League. Obviously, it feels terribly disappointing, but we could have gone into the next round of the Champions League, played one home leg, one away leg and been out.

“I like to think we’ll be taking 40 or 50,000 to Hamburg in May [for the Europa League final], and if we get halfway to doing that, we will make more money than we would have from the next round of the Champions League. It’s a missed opportunity financially, but it has no effect on budgeted performance and that’s the key thing.â

I like N'Gog, he has taking opportunites he has been given. Not bad for 1.5million.

N'gog's doing everything expected of him and more.

Everything else is shit; Especially Insua tonight, who looks the shadow of the player he was last season.

Dirk was poor again yet again.

Lucas doesn't work here.

Same old, same old.

Very very good for 1.5m if you ask me.

He scored the winner in the Leeds Carling cup game, Sunderland last season and now tonight.
He also won the dubious pen and scored in the Brum game.

A lot more than Voronin has contributed so on that merit alone its a no brainer that N'gog fully deserves to be our number one striker in Fernando's absence.

There is no pleasing some here. These usual suspects expects a team of Messi, Kaka, Christiano, Essien, Gerrard, Torres, Reina, Ibrahimonich, Vidic & Rio (last year's version), Cesc.... (ok I struggle with fullbacks)...

No it wouldn't, it would be deformed.

Same theme, dominant but not finishing teams off.

Agger is looking like his old self again and made some great runs.
Mascherano is getting better going forward while Lucas drifts into oblivion.
Kuyt needs a spell in the Reserves.
Insua needs to improve defensively. He gets skinned way too often. Aurelio to return until he gets injured.
Ngo'g is improving rapidly.
