PAUL Ince today revealed his attempts to keep his son on loan at Notts County from Liverpool until the end of the season are in the balance, after speaking to Reds boss Roy Hodgson.

Thomas Ince, 18, has impressed in five appearances since moving to Meadow Lane at the start of November, and scored the first goal of his career to inspire the Magpies to a vital npower League One victory against MK Dons.

His current loan ends at the start of January, and it now appears Hodgson might want him to return to Anfield to be in Liverpool's first team squad for the rest of their Premier League campaign.

But the Magpies boss is determined to persuade Hodgson to let his son stay at Meadow Lane, as he prepared his squad for today's League One match at Plymouth Argyle.

"It's 50-50 at the moment," admitted Ince. "I've spoken to Roy and will speak to him again to try to sort out a deal to keep him here until the end of the season.

"At this moment Thomas is at the best place he could be and he needs to stay here."

Ince was promoted into the Liverpool first-team squad at the start of the season, and made his debut as a substitute in a League Cup tie at the end of September. It was his only appearance for the Reds, in the penalty shoot-out defeat to Northampton.

"He was training with the first team but not playing games so he needed to get out on loan. That is why he is here, and he's doing very well," added Ince.

"He's a flair player and he needs to be pushed to express himself.

"I think he is now starting to express himself here.

"He feels accepted by the players and fans, and they want to see him produce a moment of magic, which is a big thing for an 18-year-old.

"He's different to any other player we have got here."

Despite the uncertainty surrounding Ince's future, the Magpies look certain to extend the loan of his Liverpool team-mate Stephen Darby until the end of the campaign.

Darby moved to Meadow Lane on the same day as Ince and has started every game since at right-back.

Better if he stays. He'll benefit more from playing regular L1 football than occasional reserve football

Yeah, right...

NOTTS County manager Paul Ince is not confident of keeping his son, Thomas, on loan at Meadow Lane from Liverpool until the end of the season.

Ince jnr's short-term loan deal with the Magpies ends after their home league game against Hartlepool United tomorrow.

Ince has already spoken to Reds' boss Roy Hodgson about extending it, and will meet with him again this week in an attempt to thrash out a deal.

The 18-year-old attacking midfielder has played seven games for Notts since moving to Meadow Lane at the start of November, and scored the first goal of his career in a league win against MK Dons last month.

"I've got a meeting with Liverpool after the Hartlepool game, but we could have a big problem trying to keep him," said Ince.

"I'm not confident at all. It's been a good learning curve for him playing here because he's playing with some good, experienced players, and he's improving all of the time."

Ince jnr made his second league start for Notts in their 3-0 win at Walsall.

Nice one. Roy/Comolli should seriously let him stay with Notts County for the rest of the season. Can't see him featuring much for our 1st team.

Great goal.

BTW looks as though he's on his way back, didn't look too confident of staying in Notts county in his post match interview.
Another stupid decision by Hodgson if he's not actually going to play him. I think he's learning a lot and gaining confidence from playing regularly and having his father around to mentor him.

"Being at Liverpool changed my style of play a little bit and I got a bit lost," Ince told BBC Radio Nottingham.

"But he [his dad] said he wanted me to be the player that I was. Coming here has given me a fresher life."

Ince junior added: "You can't ask for much more than to have a dad like that with his advice and experience who has done what he has in the game.

"I just have to keep going and hopefully I can stay on track."

Jesus...
What are they doing to the kids at Melwood?

Not sure why Roy would recall Tom to let him play in the Reserves.

He is gaining valuable first team experience and confidence by playing regular first team football and scoring goals.

THOMAS Ince wants Liverpool to let him stay at Notts County.

The 18-year-old's two-month loan deal ends today and the Magpies are set for talks with the Merseysiders over extending it to the end of the season.

Ince scored his second goal for Notts in their 3-0 home league win against Hartlepool United but is in the dark over his future.

He said: "It felt nice to score because it could be my last game for Notts.

"Coming to Notts has been absolutely fantastic for me and I've loved every single minute of being here, so hopefully we can get my loan extended.

"If not, I will take all of the positives of being here back to Liverpool.

"It's been a great journey for me and I hope I showed I was worth my place in the team. I think I have got stronger with every game.

"I honestly don't know what will happen. It's down to Notts and Liverpool to decide. Wherever I am, I have to build on this experience. My hope is to be here, but I don't know."

Ince scored the first goal of his career to fire Notts to a league victory against MK Dons last month, so is reluctant to return to Anfield and play in their reserves.

"Playing first-team football is a massive step for me. I needed to do it and if I go back to Liverpool I have to show them the player I am," he added.

PAUL INCE has refused to buckle to pressure from Liverpool – and it’s cost him his son.

Notts County boss Ince has had son Thomas on loan from his former club for the past three months and wanted to keep him to the end of the season.

But Liverpool have told the 18-year-old he can return only if he signs a new contract at Anfield which Ince senior described as ‘derisory’.

Thomas has scored twice for The Magpies and Ince senior felt staying at Meadow Lane would broaden his education. Ince said: “They are protecting their asset. He has been outstanding here – different class.

“His Liverpool contract finishes at the end of the season and they have said if he signs another contract he can come back here.

“We have had an offer which I find derisory. So he is not going to sign it and will wait until the end of the season.

“The kid loves Liverpool but it has to be right for him.
I don’t want to get in a slanging match with themâ€

hmmmm

I wonder how much money he was offered...

He is a decent little player but Sterling is 10 times better.

Its almost as though Ince Senior is trying to turn his son against Liverpool.. opening other opportunities for more money..

Personally - id tell him to fuck off if he isnt happy with the contract. He is a young kid that is far from the standout player in the reserves. He has not really acheived anything of note and his Dad certainly isnt helping him to keep his feet on the ground.

I was told last year that Ince was getting let go because od ridiculous wage demands but he ended up staying. Looks like there may have been some truth in it afterall.

"So run your contract down at Liverpool FC son, and then come and join me at the mighty Notts County. They may have 5 European and 18 League cups but we're the second best team in NOTTINGHAM"

Still don't think it was a good move on our behalf better to have him content and letting him stay with his dad.
I think he has the potential to become a decent player in the future.

It's fair enough. I reckon it is possible we've tried to pull a move in the hope his Dad needs him to stay at Notts County.

If it is being described as 'derisory' it probably isn't great.

“What’s the point of Chamberlain going to a club like Liverpool or Arsenal? He will just be stuck in the reserves,†said the Notts County boss. “Yeah, he can get a big contract now with one of the top clubs, but that’s no good for the education of the kid.

“I can tell the way Chamberlain plays he loves his football and he can score goals.

“But that is what disappoints me about my lad at Liverpool.

“He scored goals on loan at County and people started talking about him, but now he has disappeared again and won’t be seen for a while playing for the reserves, and that annoys me.â€

Ince was impressed with Chamberlain when League One County held the free-scoring Saints to a goalless draw 12 days ago. He added: “My lad is on a par with this boy, without a doubt, but they are kids at the end of the day, so let them play and enjoy themselves.

“Why put Chamberlain in the pressure cooker of the Premiership with the cameras following him about, and all that c**p?â€

Ince added: “Sometimes you can be better off playing regularly at a lower level club and learning your trade.

“He just needs to settle down, play his football and listen to the right people like his manager and his father Mark, who was a pro footballer.â€

I think Ince overrates his son. But hey that's understandable.

But there is no way in hell his son warrants a spot in the first team now.

considering chamberlain is being talked about in the 10mil sense, i think daddy loves his boy too much. If ince was sensational for county then fair enough, but as i understand it he was "good", nothing more
