Every year we see a few players go from being good solid players to being stars in the Premier League, some of them unexpectedly. One of the better examples I can think of in recent years is the development of Nasri at Arsenal.

Who would you think are the candidates around the league for that sort of improvement this year ?

Does anyone reckon Andy Carroll could do it ?

I genuinely believe Adam is going to be one of our top players. With regards to Caroll, yeah, I think he'll get about 15

I can see Henderson on the right, Carrol up top & Adam in the centre cementing themselves as Premiership quality this season.

For other teams I think Dzeko will come good for City.

Ramsey is a great shout.

Balotelli for me - Tevez going, missing out on Kun, will give him many opportunities for his talent to shine. Yes, he's a nutter but he's one heckuva footballer. I think he'll come good.

Albrighton is a player that I think will come very good this season. With Young and Downing sold, he'll be a first teamer for Villa no doubt.

Also, providing he's in jols plans, dembele will be great this season

Jol apperantly want to sign Harry Kewell. If he joins and stays fit, that has to be the biggest surprise...

I talked about Nasri's quality on here years ago, so it wasn't a surprise to me.

Anyway, here's who's going from good to great:

Smalling
Ramires
El Mohamady
Wellbeck
Sandro
Ashley Young
Mulumbu
Tchoyi

Andy Carroll
Ashley Williams (Swansea CB)
Darren Pratley (Bolton CM)
Anthony Pilkington (Norwich RM)
Stuart Holden (Bolton CM)
Stephen Hunt (Wolves)

Aquilani - I reckon he could come good for us.

Not based on pre-season, btw. Always rated him, and I hope that faith is justified this year.

Watch him get sold now.

Isn't Davies still at Bolton? He looked very talented last year.

I rate Davies quite highly and was surprised it took him so long to establish himself in the Bolton set up. I think Holden and Davies will probably be Bolton's starting CM this season but i expect Pratley to work his way into the team (due to injury/suspension etc) and become a regular. Bolton will definitely feature in the top half of the league this season.

Me too.

Aquilani and meireles are wonderfully technically gifted players. A 6 a side team of

Reina
Gerrard Alonso
Aquilani meireles
Suarez

Jizz fest

Ramires

He was the one I had in mind myself. With Essien and Lampard on a downward curve he might be the man to step it up for Chelsea.

I think he'll be used as impact sub until he can prove the side can take his lack of physical presence in the middle, but everyone has got to start somewhere I guess.

We need to bulk him up and give him some confidence.

Smalling will be fighting with Phil Jones to be Manure's 3 CB - If Rio continues to struggle to stay fit, he may have a chance. But he already proved last year, bar the game against us, that he's got the talent. Pity.

Never been impressed by Ramires ... But who knows, he won't have that much competition for playing time with Essien and Lampard both on their last legs.

Ramires is good, very very good actually.

David Luiz will probably have a great year aswell.

Yeah I thought he looked good early on, this was confirmed whenever Brendan said he was shit.

I really liked the look of him towards the end of last season.

Is it possible for you to hold some form of dialogue with someone without point scoring, Ryan?

Brendan can't even read that*

*Im well aware that he's probably sat at a computer somewhere frothing at the gash at your comment.

He's probably listening to Ryan's voicemails, never mind reading his posts on here
