This Is The Striker I Want..

Arkadiusz Milik

I really believe he could be the striker we have craved ever since Suarez left. Him and Sturridge could form a potentially lethal partnership.

Yeah he was immensely wasteful during the Euro's but what is far more important for me is that he 1) scores loads on a weekly basis at team level and 2) always seems to get into scoring positions.

The thing is when I watched a lot of Ajax back in the day with Suarez in the team it was obvious how good he was but my main concern (along with his antics) when we bought him was how wasteful he could be in front of goal.

I mean when he sometimes bagged a brace and got all the plaudits no-one cared to mention that he had missed around 7 clear cut chances too. Milik is not quite as wasteful in an Ajax-team that is not as good as the Ajax Suarez played for (Suarez after all had Eriksen behind him), but he scores just as many goals as Luis did back then (apart from that one Season where he scored 35 goals in the Eredivise) and is a few years younger too - I am not worried at all about his poor Euro's from a 'goals' point of view.

He is obv not the same type of player as Suarez but is still one I wouldn't mind backing as our front man for years to come, he is that good I believe and incredible well-suited for the physical, high-paced game in England too I reckon. Strong, fast, great technique, good vision and hard-working. He will score LOADS of goals no matter where he go from Ajax.

I hope Klopp agrees and goes all in before he ends up elsewhere.

£40M should do the trick I reckon.

Sturridge ...............Coutinho.............Firmino

..............................Milik..................................

That strike-force could be as potent as any Premiership team out there. Even the one with Zlatan in it.

£40m? Hahahahaha! Fuck's sake. He'd be attainable for half that.

And he's not that fast. Unless he's been wearing heavy boots whenever I've seen him play

Absolutely not. Maybe I went a bit over the top, but don't blame me but the inflated prices in the Prem. Look, we've just paid £35 for Mané who may or may not be great - but doesn't have a topscorers DNA like Milik does.

So a 22-year-old goal-getter from perhaps the best team in Europe (alongside Benfica/Porto) to unearth great talents combined with the fact that Palace etc. are buying players for £35M will potentially be a rather expensive acquaintance.

If however I am wrong and you are right - £20M for a player with Milik's potential in today's market would be a bargain in the Suarez-mould.

No it wouldn't, because he's quite clearly nowhere the standard of Suarez, and never will be.

Milik is shite. He reminds me a little of Baros. Does it all, beats them twice over then heads for the corner flag or totally fails to even get close to hitting the target. Hasn't Milik had more shots off-target than anyone else at the Euros ? Or one of the worst goals to shots ratios, or something like that.

He shoots from anywhere, yes. He looked total shite at the Euros.

Scoring 1 in 3 at International level and 2 in 3 at domestic level is pretty impressive for a 22 year old. Have to say I haven't seen much of him though, and I think we are saturated for strikers on the verge of making a serious breakthrough at a similar age (Origi, Ings, Firmino) - I would personally want us to sign a striker with much more experience. No doubting those figures though..

Has anyone watched him play more often? He certainly has some interesting stats, and might be a decent buy at £20m.

(£40m.......fuck me that is hilarious)

If he was anything like Baros he had scored five at the Euro's and five during the last season at club level as well.

I'm desperately trying to figure out what the Danish connection is here.
Ha. I've always wanted us to buy the best players no matter what nationality they've got, why I also spend a few years on promoting Suarez before we eventually bought him.

If there are two players I think are about the same in terms of class etc. and one is Danish I want us to go for the Danish one mind. I am shallow like that. We don't have any strikers coming anywhere near the potential of Milik though at the moment so that's that.

A lot of posters seems to be of the opinion that he's headless, wasteful etc., but he is quite the opposite. Judge him all you like on his five games in the Euro's (he actually played well in most of them apart from scoring), the fact remain he could become a world class striker this one. At least, that's my take on him from what I've seen of him at Ajax and Poland.

And given his potential I wouldn't mind splash big on a young, agile, fast, powerful and very skilled striker like Milik. We've splashed big on the likes of Carroll and Benteke, both strikers with obvious key attributes but also players with some great limitations. Milik, in that sense, is far more like Suarez, as I don't think he's got any real weaknesses.

I am not saying he can become Suarez-class, less could do, but I believe he could become a steady +20 a Season player for us. I'd take that.

A player can be average for a team playing in a not top class league and fantastic he get the chance to play with better players in a different league. The player must also be a team player or he can destroy the morale in the dressing room.

You will have to look at what the team need. Every transfer could break or make a team. Sell the wrong player and you could finish seventh, buy the right one and you could win the league.

Very few players out there is almost guaranteed a success. Everyone else is a gamble. If you want almost guaranteed success then the price will of course be sky high.

Milik may or make not be the player we need. He could be shit or he could be a success.

Klopp only play with one striker, at least so far, so if we sign a new one then he must be better than the ones we already have. No need to buy a squad player when we already have a player like Ings. IMO if we sign a new striker then he will be very expensive because he will be in the almost guaranteed success category. That means no Milik.

You should see him turn, etc.

He hasn't been good at all in the Euros and he was terrible in Ajax's last game of the season when he was taken off with Ajax needing one goal to win the Eredivisie.

He was great for most of the season though. Good player. It wouldn't take 40 million to buy him like.

I think I'd rather have Vincent Janssen really.

He's going to Spurs. I hope he's useless.

Is it completely off the charts that he's reminded me a bit of Bergkamp at times? There's something about him that can seem so effortless, some of the goals he's scored has looked 'easy' but aren't.

Anyways, how much do you reckon Ajax are looking for? Napoli being rumored but will only happen if Higuain leave I guess.

Great another hard working striker that can't finish his dinner.

Ffs
Ajax (loan) Eredivisie 2014–15

Matches 33 Goals 23

Ajax Eredivisie 2015–16

So, tell me, how many goals would it take for you to think a striker is actually capable of finishing his dinner?

Funny you mention Bergkamp...

No idea how much they want for him. 20 million should do it but I'm sure they'd take more if offered. They deffo want to sell though. Talk of Huntelaar coming back and Zivkovic looking great in training.

He scored quite a few in the Cup, his actual league tally wasn't that great

Ha ha okay, that explains it maybe. I was aware of their connection with Bergkamp working for Ajax mind you, but this was news to me at least.

The reason why I came to think of Bergkamp was that when Milik was on the ball he reminded me of the first looks I've got of Bergkamp for Holland under the Euros in 92 and the World Cup in USA in 94 - he was sold to Arsenal shortly after back then.

The Dutch league is rubbish.

Kuyt scored 25 in 38 the year before he joined and had 70 in 100 overall.

He looked absolutely fucking rubbish on the biggest stage and throwing around stats from a shite league doesn't change that.

We need goalscorers not hard workers

If we dont get Milik we could end up like Accrington Stanley.

Accrington Stanley, who are they?

Exachhhhtly!
