You reckon that will be the key to Madrid offering loads of dough for Suarez?

I mean Cavani has already moved and there's only really Suarez at that level available.

I think... for no reason really... Madrid will offer 50m in the next 24 hours... or as soon as the Higuain thing is finalised.

No - that goes to either Ibra or Bale (I think). They want Suarez on the cheap it seems, and seem to think we'll buckle in late August. Time will tell ...

I am not too sure how much cash Real Madrid have at the moment. They have already spent shitloads and seem to be more limited in their spending these days.
They got good money back for Callejon/Albiol, and will likely get very solid fees for Coentrao/Higuain, so their net spend isn't that terrible.

Well Cointreau will need replacing if he moves and Hig is in the thread title but they do not seem to have the ready cash available as they used to.

They have Carvahal now, and Varane has emerged as a top class defender.

Varane is a central defender though and Carvahal a right back. Can Carvahal play LB? The alternative is putting Arbeloa there whenever they play a team that can actually attack them.

Reports continue to suggest Napoli have a deal with Real Madrid for Gonzalo Higuain, but personal terms are another matter.

The Corriere dello Sport claimed this morning that Real had accepted a €35m offer for the Argentine.

According to Sky Sport Italia this evening, the proposal is closer to €37m plus a further €3m in performance-related bonuses.

However, both sources insist that agreeing personal terms with the player and his entourage is going to be very difficult.

Higuain has already been close to joining Juventus and Arsenal this summer, but moves faltered at the final hurdle.

Sky Sport Italia claim the main problem is around his image rights, as Higuain has a contract with Nike.

Whereas Real Madrid leave their players 50 per cent of the image rights, Napoli want full ownership of this lucrative area.

Napoli have €63m to invest after Paris Saint-Germain signed Edinson Cavani.

They are on very good terms with Real Madrid, having already bought Raul Albiol and Jose Callejon from the Merengues.

My point is that by getting Varane and Carvajal to slot in, Ramos and Arbeloa can be used at LB depth in a pinch. They also still have Marcelo

I would be surprised to see Carvajal at LB, or Varane move elsewhere, but stranger things have happened.

Perhaps - they're a little light on numbers at the back now that they've sold Albiol who was backup to begin with.
