If I'm Sanchez at Arsenal or Goretzka at Shalke or Can at Liverpool or whoever, seeing the same shit year in year out I'd run my contract down. If you're playing at a club winning trophies year in year out you stay where you are. The answer for a club like ours is to start winning trophies.

Selling our Coutinhos and Suarez and Sterling's every year will not achieve that.

If the clubs were to retain more of their profits (instead of paying 60-70% to their playing staff - what other 'business' does that FFS, I doubt even Hollywood comes anywhere even close to that) then one can only imagine how that might benefit the average match going fan in terms of better facilities, lower turnstile prices and so on. Clubs turn the screw now as they need to bleed every possible source dry just to pay those cunts, the players.

The clubs will spend the minimum on infrastructure it needs to retain fan loyalty.

If there was surplus it would go to the owners pockets.

On the other hand, club revenue is highly dependent on player quality

This isn't true for clubs owned by Middle-East countries, or indeed the likes of Abramovich.

The entire game is corrupted to the core and if anyone says otherwise, show me the evidence etc, is simply being very naive.

There’s only one reason why fees increase - someone stands to benefit from it. Supply and demand. And if the regulators of the game ain’t making any/much noise, you can be certain they are getting something too to shut up. The heart of the problem has always been the problem of the heart and the human heart is greedy so don’t tell me out of 10 fat men in suits sitting around a table, all 10 of them are honest blokes and are in it for the sake of their love for the game. Yeah right. This ain’t a computer simulation game. It has always been about money.
