Brilliant posts Avvy, as usual.
I just love reading your 'story' posts and they're even better when you are there to experience it.

Only one of the lads there on Sunday was a Manc and he did come over to say hello. All my mates were giving me stick for meeting up with men from the internet and it does sound a bit dodge in fairness but after meeting the lads from here they couldn't believe how sound and welcoming everyone was.

I too a bit of stick from Sunny for not using his pub directory that he clearly spent a few minutes typing out. Sorry about that mate, but your effort was greatly appreciated.
Your friend Gearoid was definitely over with us for a while. Does he post here Stu?

If anyone has got the video of Avy singing Ring of Fire, please, for the love of god, donate it to this thread. It deserves it.

(Or at the very least email it to me.)

Flashback - I've got a video of Aidan singing. Can't remember what song but Dave picked a load of dodgy ones for him to sing - Breakfast at tiffanys maybe ?

Yeah mate, he does.
Mysterywhiteboy is his username but he mainly keeps to the Prediction Leagues.

We we're having a debate what the best One hit wonder was and that's what was picked for him. Jon was adamant Breakfast at Tiffanys was it. I can't remember the other options. Cheskey Hawkes is another one hit wonder but that is different thread for another day.

None of us anyway. Dougies was no stranger to the mic either.

I always enjoy reading Avvy's aftermatch posts. Top bloke too,I'm delighted I made it over to have a drink with you, and yes I did tell you at one point to stop getting the rounds in because everytime I looked around you were coming back from the bar with pints !

There's also one thing you left out, which I thought was a touch of class by whoever organised it (Sunny?) - there was a little presentation done by Bobby before him and Avvy sang karaoke (with backing vocals by the entire pub btw) and Avvy was given the plaque that can be seen in the photo. Bobby made a quick speech recognising the effort that Avvy made to make it to games and just wanted to show the appreciation of the locals by giving him the plaque which read something along the lines of "there are no strangers in this pub, just friends you haven't met yet".

It was a great moment and not really surprising for anyone who has been out with the Scouse lads off the site, they're a great bunch and make everyone feel completely welcome when we visit their city.

I remember some funny shit too - Dave explaining the difference between his and my accent - "He's from Dublin and I'm......" Sean - "What ? And you're a pikey ?".

I had a cracking time over the weekend, even if that girl that gave me her number in O'Neills did take me into Popworld to meet her boyfriend. Women ...

It was nice to catch up with the all the lads I've met before and great to meet the ones I hadn't - Avvy, Redshrek, Del. Apologies to Del - I didn't know you were heading off straight after the match otherwise I would have made more of an effort to speak to you before it.

Oncy, Sheik, Portly - disappointed you didn't make it.

And where the fuck was Krump ?

Yep. That was lovely who ever organised that. Avy was welling up accepting it, he couldn't say no the duet after that.

Avy commented on the fact me and Ross has totally different accents.
Cue me ;"Ah Ross says things like 'mate' and 'like', I wouldn't say things like that down my way".
Cue Sean, "Dave are you a pikey so". Haha.

We had the most random conversations ever and everyone took the banter on the chin and had a laugh.

It was a pity Del couldn't stay. He seemed a bit of cool dude alright who likes a pint or two.

I don't have it Avy. Don't worry it won't be posted dude. What happens at drinkies stays at drinkies.

Me and Bobby tried to get that plaque at the previous game but the landlady was having none of it. Flowers, champagne and chocolates for her birthday from the lads in the pub and whip round for the bar staff soon persuaded her

Anyway, over the course of the season Avvy instilled himself as one of the fixtures and fittings in The King Harry and we just wanted to give him something which, on face value is a token, but the phrase upon which said everything we wanted to say. That we've enjoyed his company and he will be missed and that hopefully one day he'll come back and see us. I need to go over to Oz in the next few years so hopefully I can stop off in KL and say hello back to him. I do remember an "Avvy, Avvy, Avvy , Oy, OY, OY !" chant at one point. Haha.

It was a top night indeed. I had a fucking craic and a half with you lads. Dave and Aidan - I've got to say - are two fucking brilliant lads who again will be sorely missed when they go to Canada. They go through life with a smile on their face and I've enjoyed every moment of their company. I remembered Del when he turned up too and it was a shame he couldn't have stayed as he seemed a good lad. Stu was a top bloke too but a twat for not using my mini pub guide which took me TEN FUCKING MINUTES to write. Yer twat Stu. I think I told mysterwhiteboy to "post more you wanker" as well. 😀

I had to leave early as one I was bladdered dure to necking 7 pints before the game, two so was Avvy and three I had some shit to do in the morning. Next time I out for the duration.

It does go to show though that meeting lads off here isn't as scary as you'd think and rather than a bunch of intergeeks turning up in parkas and bottle end glasses everyone is up for a good laugh and is (relatively) normal. We should do it more often lads. Drinkies for next season has to be on ! It doesn't matter where we go because as long as we have ale and good company.

Kind words Sean. I love coming to the Harry and will miss it next season. It's great to walk in and immediately feel welcome, whether its a quick chat with Bobby or Dougie (even before we've bumped into you) or the friendly staff.

PS It was funny when you asked me to sign the card for the landlady and I eventually got round to writing "Best Wishes From The Irish". When Ross was asked to sign it I informed him that I had already done the business for us and anyone else in the pub from Ireland. Ha.

As a sidenote, I was slightly taken aback by Jon, who doesn't look like a geek at all.
I hide it extremely well.

I have a large tattoo of the artwork from Star Wars all over my back.

Video from Avvy getting the plaque, & Aidan singing are safely on my phone...

For now....

Dave, you're alright for pikey mate
Hahahaha.

I should have fucking come down for it. Instead I watched the game in a pub in manchester I'd never been in before. The landlord took offence when i expressed disappointment to the girl serving that the only had smooth and no cask. He proceeded to lecture me for several minutes why his smooth was the best pint of bitter in town, whilst he drank his pint of carlsberg.

Jon you were great sport drinking the Jager with us. Ross was a fan too. Pete on the other hand never had it before. I was shocked.

It was great to see Pete again. Pity he doesn't get more of a chance to get online.
