I'm not sure Rafa knows. He seemed to know very little about him when he was talking about him after he was signed.

Best solution is to go back to 4-4-2 and play Kuyt up with Torres, Gerrard and Babel on the wings and Mascherano and Aquilani in the centre of the midfield. Insua and Babel have a great understanding on the left. Gerrard could help Johnson defensively and would be freed of the role he's been playing and not performing in this season. Drop Lucas and Benayoun can start odd games for us.

I know Gerrard's best position is at CM but we are now at alarming stage where we need him to help us get crosses in from right wing. Gerrard can do that.

I disagree.

Kuyt has proven that he is more than capable of creating chances for other players when played on the right. When Aquilani is fit he should play with Masch in the center with Gerrard behind Torres, Benayoun on the left, and Kuyt on the right (or Riera on the left and Benayoun on the right).

I know Kuyt more than you do. He's been top class in every position he plays but we need more creativity up front when we play good teams and Gerrard can make a difference at right wing, he can beat players and provide non stop crosses from there.

For example Torres against Chelsea, he was too isolated up front and Kuyt can make a big difference if he partners Torres up front. Gerrard can whip in crosses from right wing and Benayoun at left wing can offer creativity like he did after he came on. Simple as that.

Just seeing this thread now.

I've no idea people even bother attmpeting to construct Liverpool sides that don't have Kuyt in them. 'Yeah, but it's my preferred 11, not Rafa's!' You may as well stick Cristiano fucking Ronaldo in there if that's the case.

Kuyt plays, in every team, in every formation, in every game, all the time.
