The Hypocrisy that is English Football.

So Gus Poyet the Uruguayan supports Suarez.

This gets about as much acknowledgement from me as KHL's opinion on Danish players does.

Do you really believe that? Hes already throwing out the 'Id like to stay but you never know' lines when asked about his future. I reckon he will be here for 12 months max, and we will not be lifting no 19 next season

Sure ... Footy is a funny game, things like that can still happen ... A motivated Suarez, with a team that has a chip on their shoulder and feels it's us against the world, can surprise.

How do you know what his personality is like? Surely, not basing on TV and a few football matches?
I'm guessing you've met the man, talked with him and found you've disliked him?

No of course not, who would base their opinion of a public figure on their public persona. We go for a pint every Wednesday, he never gets his round in though

Nope much like Keane, Saurez is a born winner and no mater where he plays I'll always love watching winners.

Thats fair enough, no arguments from me there, I however I find it ridiculous that we have a chorus of people posting things like 'I hope somebody breaks that diving cunts legs" every time the topic of Gareth Bale comes up, yet the same people admire Suarez for his 'winning mentality' during one of his frequent battles with gravity

RedStar - don't you ever curse in football matches? Don't you ever use bad offensive language targeted at opponent players?
If so - you must be a saint.
At the heat of a match or a debate we *hope* somebody breaks opponents' cunt legs and their fans hope the same happens to our cunts. That's football.
the thing is to only wish it at the hit of the game, and not really mean it, and of course not to take any actions to make this to happen.

Sure I do, mostly when we concede a goal or miss a sitter. Yeah I dislike tons of players, thats not the point. Im claiming to be some sort of buddhist football zen master, this all started because I questioned the idea of a football fan pointing out the hypocrisy of the FA/press even though football fans are some of the most hypocritical people you could ever meet. Sure the FA turna blind eye to Rooney, because they need him, they are hypocrites, but so are the Liverpool fans who turn a blind eye to Suarez and moan about other players doing the same thing

I don't know where you've been Red but that's kinda the point. You don't honestly think fans aren't aware of this do you?

Pretty much everyone on this site knows Rooney is an outstanding footballer (one or two morons excepted - which just proves the rule), I doubt there's more than a handful who don't recognize Bale as an exceptional player who would add immensely to our team. We'd slag Roy Keane off on his wedding day but we all know he was about the most influential player in the league for a decade, Henry - with the exception of the Irish - was an extraordinary talent, Robben possibly the best winger in the world - but we screamed at the diving, whining, cheating prick till our lungs burst.

As Ryan wrote in an outstanding post (back when he was still capable of them) that Ronaldo, that greasy, hateful, diving, horrible little prick, was the best player in the league and the mancs should hold onto him for all their worth. Not because he was a role model for the youth, not because he was so well mannered on the pitch - quite the opposite. He said that attitude - which bordered on "I'm bigger than the club" - with the self obsessed arrogance and desperation to win at any cost was what would ensure united won trophies for years to come. And we all knew he was right. Didn't stop the hatred the next time he took to the pitch though. Cause I'll let you into a little secret: "That's what being the fan of a club is all about!" You can be a football fan and never scream at anybody. But if you've got a team you truly support then you can't do that. You can't make an omlette without breaking a couple of eggs and you can't be a fan of a football team without being infuriated by the players of rival clubs. End of story.

Ronaldo was hated by rival fans cause we knew he bought them success. Suarez is hated for the same reasons. For those who want the Liverpool name to remain intact - and I personally am one of them - it's a massive conflict. We want that name to mean success as well as dignity but you can't have success in the modern game without players like Suarez or Ronaldo etc. To have footballing success today requires the sacrifice of some of that dignity. You can be a fan of football and be above all the grubby players and hypocrisy that goes with it - you can condemn it all with equal parts relish and honesty while maintaining a clear conscience. But if you're going to be a fan of a football club then you better check those character flaws at the door - cause here in club land they don't belong.

Rosco, I'm curious to know what was your stance when Gerrard hit that DJ. Should the club have punished him? sell him?

I don't even know why you're bothering asking. I'm at a loss to understand what connection he has with LFC any more. It's been a long while since I've seen him actually get behind anything LFC related in a positive manner so I wouldn't really categorise him as a supporter of the club. I think he's even gone beyond the realms of critic now also - he's become more of a sneering cynic. He should pursue a career in sports journalism

Judging by some of the more reasonable column posted today on the Keep Suarez thread, I suspect Rosco might struggle there as they're too pro LFC ... 😉
