The hand of God (not that one)

I'm genuinely bemused by all this Jesus stuff with sportspeople. Watching Neymar go up with a '100% Jesus' headband on I just thought 'fuck off with your weird beliefs you wanker'. Why should anyone else be subjected to his mental illness?

So apparently it's not ok to expose an ad for pants or support for a political party or solidarity with workers or any of that on the field, but it's ok for some religious bellend to flaunt his imaginary friend before billions.

Secondly, and I've touched on this before, what is the deal with Jesus/God not allowing you to score a goal that hit your hand but to score the other one? Or to allow you to be horribly injured like Sturridge? Do they believe it's all part of God's plan? And if so what's praying for?
I really don't get it.

"God moves in mysterious ways"

Stock answer If he's a bellend

I guess you're right.
i just don't get why it's ok to flaunt these beliefs, but not any others.

Maybe he thinks its a more worthwhile thing to do than a Lawyers4U headband. None of it really arses me in the slightest if I'm honest.

I hope a player gets a headband or t-shirt for that marijuana religion in Indiana. I'd love to see UEFA's take on that.

Footballers are bellends.

That said, after ive come out of a particularly satisfactory review with one of my teams I quite often point to Jesus in the sky and then kiss my fingers and say a little prayer.
Just my way of saying thanks for all the blessings Allah and Buddah and all that have bestowed on me and not made me disabled and all that.
Thank you cheeses.

I do that after scoring a worldie or a 90th minute winner on fifa

Got to show Pat some love

I think, on reflection, that if God does exist, he is, in fact, a manc.

If true I think I would rather not end up in heaven, so I am comfortable with my lack of a calling

This is the point here. I think it's a little insulting to other religious people to call it a mental illness, but the fact that it's ok, but things like McManaman and Fowler supporting the dockers that time isn't is frankly ridiculous.

I think that anybody should be able to flaunt whatever beliefs they want.

If they want to show their love for their God, then that's great and will hopefully lead to them spreading love like their religion calls them to do instead of holding prejudices. Same goes for people who support gay or transgender rights. One of the greatest moments in the Olympics was Tommie Smith and John Carlos with their fists in the air. As long as it isn't harmful to anybody else, people should be free to say or display anything they actually believe in or we'd be starting down a pretty slippery slope.

In this football world of shite, corruption, money, and more shite, I think that it's awesome for people to hold at least something close in their hearts that differentiates them from a load of disloyal mercenaries.

I suppose he does have some God like qualities about him.

Religion always brings peace and harmony whether at football or any other event. Alongside allowing a demonstration of your religious beliefs, and to be fair, we should allow strongly held beliefs to be written on t shirts. Every game would have extra spice and be a great talking point.

How does this tie in with the fact that they sold their soul to the devil?

Footballers are helplessly imitative. They slouch around at home watching other players on TV, and they just copy anything they think is flash, crafty or so seemingly deep they can't figure it out but don't want to get left behind. So it only takes one prat to sneak the ball beyond the edge of the corner arc and suddenly they're all at it (still taking astoundingly crap corners whilst mentally patting themselves on the back for being a bit naughty). Then Fwank points at the sky and, again, they're all at it - players who've never experienced a bereavement, have no religious faith and have no idea what they're pointing at or why they're doing it except they saw others doing it. As an empirical experiment next year, someone should put on an Andy Pandy hat when they score, another one should remove one boot and smell it, and another should try to dig a small, mole-sized hole in the ground with his hands. I bet within a fortnight there will be masses of players doing the same.

Can you tell me why the World Series only involves one country in Baseball?

I DONT GET IT!

Shouldn't it be the American Series or the National Series?

The two division series are the American series and the National series. The winners meet in the World Series. It is a bit of a weird one. And the commentators do refer to the winners as world champions. I think it's partly that average Americans believe their country is the world, and partly because anyone playing growing up aspires to play in the MLB as it is the pinnacle of the sport. Cuba, Dominica, Japan, Venezuela etc. If they play baseball getting to 'the show' is the highest achievement possible and winning the World Series is to highest accolade in in it.
It's also filled with God botherers too.
