The greatest betrayal

Who was it?

Torres to Chelsea?
Owen to Real?
Would it have been Gerrard to Chelsea?

For me it was Owen to Real and all that followed. Torres was so good, turned us all so gay and so clearly and quickly regretted leaving that I can just about feel meh about him. Owen on the other hand I will never forgive...the greedy little cunt that he is.

I also reserve a special place in hell for Mcmanaman. That twat played the new Bosman rule like a fiddle. We could have got a massive transfer fee for him but instead got shafted by Real (a pattern here?) and received fuck all.

At least the others still played pretty well for us right up to the end. The way Torres basically downed tools several months before leaving was absolutely disgraceful. Then he left to a major domestic rival. So the biggest betrayal.

Alonso talked about how much he loved us. Engineered a move late in the transfer window.

The myth of Alonso is strong.
Apparantly he wanted to come here this summer but Daniel Van Buyten has some pics of him naked gardening. He was gonna expose them if Alonso didnt sign for Munchen.

Not sure why Alonso is getting shit.

Anyways, Gerrard came pretty close to being the worst. That would've been terrible. But seeing as that didn't happen I'm gonna go with Torres. Owen was bad but I think he'd have left on much better terms if he was just a bit more honest about his intentions.

Owen for me.

Along with Mcmanaman they deliberately ran the fee right down, meaning they were not only leaving us, but they were leaving us in the shit.

McManaman. As a born and bred scouser, he shouldn't have done the shit like he did on the club. Unforgiveable.

Even after downing the tools he played a lot better than he managed to do at chelsea...

I wonder if it was because he didnt want to put in the effort or if he simply lost the ability to do so?

Owen and Mcmanaman both shit on the club. Torres behaved like a regular stroppy mercenary footballer, nothing surprising, and he actually did us a massive favour really - we got a ridiculous transfer fee for a player that we could all see was on the wane. And we ended up with Suarez instead.
Owen is probably the worst due to where he ended up.

This, over and over again. None of the others even come close. McMoneyman was the ringleader of the Spice Boys, the club got naffed off about it and offered him for sale, he had the unbelievable brass neck to take offence at that, he switched off every bit as much as Torres for his last season and a half, and he left without the club which made him getting a single penny. Norfolk 'n' contest.

Players always come and go and I've no real complaints if players move abroad. Torres to Chelsea was devastating at the time. A part of me died when that happened.

Yep. All 5 were bittet to swallow. I'd add Mascherano's departure too.
For me McManaman and Owen were the worst. Torres closely behind.
The nice thing was that both Torres and Owen careers never looked the same once they left us.

This. It was a huge nail hammered into the coffin of my love of football and also my belief in people's common decency full stop. Utterly reprehensible. I've rarely enjoyed more schadenfreude witnessing his decline.

From a heart perspective, I loved Torres, so his (apparent) overnight departure was a bigger blow to my silly, trusting heart. But he didn't fuck the club the way those other two cnuts did...
