So, not accounting for big names who might walk over the next couple of years (Suarez, Reina..). Who do you see as the crux of this squad for the next, say, 3 years?

Agger
Wisdom
Gerrard
Henderson
Coutinho
Sturridge
Sterling
Suso

Is that about it? We can't really predict what will happen with most youngsters, and you could probably add Kelly to the mix if he can stay fit, but by and large, the crux of our squad lies there. There's room for a few players to grow (or move on). And we also at present have the likes or Suarez and Reina, while Lucas, Enrique, Borini and Allen are on the fence at the minute. Johnson can go, Skrtel, Downing and Coates probably will go.... so?

There's also Shelvey, who none of us can really decide or agree on. Then there's the likes of McLaughlin, Coady (who is at make or break time).

It's hard to say really, which is a bit of a problem.

Agger if he stays and Gerrard seem to be nailed on.

The likes of Henderson, Allen, Coutinho, Sturridge, Borini and some of the youngsters need to show how they fit into the side and that they deserve a place beyond any doubt.

Arguably Coutinho and Sturridge shouldn't be in that list but I've put them in because they've only been at the club for six months and still really have to show that they're in it for the long haul and can keep on performing well and improving.

I think we look strong for the next 3 years, really. It's a young squad. I'd include the players who might leave, because they're assets that will pay for replacements if they do go.

Reina
Johnson
Enrique
Agger
Kelly
Lucas
Allen
Henderson
Shevey
Coutinho
Sterling
Borini
Suarez
Sturridge

They're all good first team players whether they stay or not (on the 'asset' basis).

Then there are the following youngsters who will more likely than not make a contribution

Robinson
Wisdom
McLaughlin
Suso
Ibe
Teixeira

The future: Finishing every season 5th-7th. No trophies. No Champions League. Best players continue to leave. FSG spend no real money and the ground stays the same. Manager limps along for another two seasons then gets sacked and is replaced by someone else not good enough.
I'm not having a good day...

Day?

Day?

My pessimism is compounded by the fact that I've spent all week fighting with Orange over my broadband and mobile. They are massive cunts and if I have one more Indian guy ask me if 'I can have the privilege of addressing you by your first name', or 'I can see you've been an Orange customer for 8 years, so thank you for that.' I will climb a clock tower and break out the assault rifle.
Anyway, suffice to say I can't see us ever doing anything again with these owners and this manager. I will wait to be proved spectacularly wrong.

Trollco will maul us for taking this off-topic, but I never ever understand why customer service is so incredibly bad across so many companies who offer almost nothing different from their competitors. I've had it from Barclays, BT, Sky, among many others. Cutomer service is about the only thing these people can differentiate on - even costs are generally too similar to matter.

Employ people who understand what you're saying and get rid of the fucking robots!! It's a false economy!

Sorry.

And someone fix that acTrollco shit!!!!

if you need any tips on ballistics and/or the best scope for long distance shooting in English weather conditions, let me know. Always here for you Sean. 😉

Thanks.
'Orange is committed to excellent customer service.' Liars.
anyway, to get back on topic, I'm not sure how many false dawns I can stomach from our club. I guess at least now our expectation is lowered to what we can realistically achieve. A top four place? Mmm we'll see.

Brad Smith is worth a mention, as I think Inglethorpe's mentioned that he was close to breaking through when he got his bad break. Ditto for Pelosi. Then there's the likes of Yesil and Ngoo. While I'm not convinced yet about Ngoo, his successful loan spell at Hearts should've done his chances a fair bit of good. Dunn is also very promising and has now become more of a fixture with the U-21s, and I think R-o-s-s-iter will move up very quickly and be a name a lot of people will be looking out for in 2 or 3 seasons' time.

You do know that we've got a net spend of 40 and 35 mill in the last 2 years.
The problem isnt FSG, its how we've spent the money.

The last transfer window was obvs a step in the right direction.

haha... Trust me there are NOTHING when compared to ONO in Spain... ONO once rang me up to harrangue me for having made a formal complaint for them overcharging me four months in a row... I shit you not... They made me so angry I took a day off to calm down.

PS I think the light at the end the tunnel is probably an oncoming train
