The forgotten man:

So he's better than the guy that's in the team only because we have one fit FB.

Still doesn't make him good enough.
Why? Do you know something about our budget that we don't?
He's a great squad player that might turn into a great first team player, should he get over his injuries.

Now, now.
No quotes or sources. Just another article out of nothing.
You'd hope that anyway. If not he needs to fire his agents pronto.
He'll not get that amount anywhere else, nor will he get into a bigger club.
I refuse to believe an article like that. Remember Sterling's supposed 50k per week demand?

Spot on.

Let's put the pitchforks away until we have the odd fact, or two.

Fucks sake, off course his agent's asking for a top wage, if you're selling something you don't stay with what you're prepared to accept realistically.

If his agent would've said 25k a week we'd have cited sterling have more of an impact & said 15k.

His agent just doing what he's handsomely paid to do, the club are just doing what they should, by leaking it to cause outrage & force the reduction.

Don't hate the players, hate the game.

It's nothing to do with the budget. Look. I'm not trying to pick a fight, but he's not been great at all - bar a few performances where he's looking like he "might" be able to play a part.

Kelly, I think, gets vowed favourably because he's a local lad, and I get that too - bit he's a £2-3m player (a lot of that is down to injuries) who could be effectively be replaced by a £2-3m player.

I hope he gets over his injury problems and progresses - but right now we wouldn't miss him.

As there are no quotes or 'reports from reliable sources' to back up this info in that article, are we to assume that Joe Bernstein was sitting beside Martin Kelly when he made these demands and can guarantee that it's true, or is it just a page filler written at 10 O'Clock on a Saturday night.

Yes. Terry McDermott, who worked with him at Huddersfield, not only continues to rave about him for his potential as a player but also for his attitude, and I'd trust his judgement any day over that of any hack, so as you say it's another bit of mischief-making.

Was this the same reporter that said Sterling wouldn't sign a new contract for anything less than £50k per week?

Yes, usually with help from Rob Draper. He was claiming Kelly had 'turned down' a £35,000 offer in December. Once Sterling signed he moved on to Kelly.

Your logic s fucked up.
How could he possibly be replaced by a 2-3m pound player, when in your own words, Kelly himself is valued at that amount due to his injuries?

That means you either want an injury prone player at his same level for the same price, whoch would make no sense or you want a seriously shite player, worse than Kelly, for the same price he's worth as a crock.
Which is it.
I've made this argument based on the fact he's a 2-3m pound player which he clearly isn't, but your logic is clearly fucked up, as the reasoning above shows. Fucking weird coming from you.

Maybe it's a younger player. Maybe it's a player who's contract is almost up. Maybe it's a player from overseas without the English premium.

Regardless of the actual figures - the point I'm making is that he's bet replaceable.

He'll be 23 by the end of the season and has made 28 league appearances.

I think he's more Stephen Wright than Jamie Carragher.

Would be delighted to be wrong.

Spoilsport! Who can the papers go after next to generate rumours of 65K wage demands so fans can grab their pitchforks and torches again?

Oh hang on... we've a long line of up and coming youngsters to keep them entertained. I bet Ibe is next.

He'll be very good CB. He's vocal, tough, good with the ball and decent in the air. Him and Wisdom are the future.

For once, I agree.

He's no more a full-back than I am, but he's definitely got a future at the centre of defence. Now if we could improve his ball-playing , cultured abilities he'd fit right into the mould of the modern CB eh?

Maybe we should wait till he is fit before we start talking about him being forgotten. Not forgotten by me. He would have played instead of Wisdom I think if fit. Keep him. an excellent centreback playing at fullback. Can do a Carra and move inside in my opinion.

I imagine that the fact he's been first teamer for 3 years might mean he wanted at least as much as Sterling.

He did not seem to kick-on much from his initial introduction following his ham-string injury, however injuries and sporadic opportunities are probably to blame there. Time will tell, but I would rather gamble and keep him rather than gamble and let him go

regards

He's better than all the backups at fullback, and I think he'll be even more important should we let Coates go and sell one of Agger or Skrtel.

Oooh, LFC coasters!

Personally I think his future is at CB. Im not sure if his hamstrings are up to the rigours of an attacking fullback

Fitting in a way that he signs the day after Carra's announcement. He looks like the most likely to pick up the baton as a long-serving home-grown player with the same kind of attitude. If he outgrows these injury problems...
