I think Borini is a good prospect, but when we have shelled out £8.5M.for Coutinho and £12M for Sturridge, it puts his purchase at £10.5M into perspective.
Unlike Coates, I have faith that Alberto will be given enough games to develop here. A young CB has to dislodge one CB and then form a defensive partnership with another player deemed stronger than his predecessor. He can only do this when his competitor gets injured. Attacking players are far more interchangeable and likely to tire later on in matches.
Rodgers has shown he's got nothing against young attackers getting into the side if they're good enough. Alberto have to impress from the bench first, but that's just how it is for any young player at a big club.
The kneejerk reactions and hysteria on SCM over the past week or so have skyrocketed to RAWK like levels all because a Brazilian with an afro who doesn't score or create goals (but is good at stepovers) went to Spurs for 35M.
