The English posters will enjoy this one...

Surprised none of the English posters have commented on this. I was just a 10-year old kid when this took place so I've only got vague memories of it but that atmosphere was pretty special. Bizarre hearing 'You'll Never Walk Alone' sung by the English crowd.

Yeah helluva tournament that.

I was 22 had moved to England and was working in London.
Certainly down south the whole atmosphere for the whole tournament was amazing. It really felt special.
PS-Barry Davies was excellent.

Euro 96 was and still is ridiculously overrated as a tournament. I remember reading a guardian article a few years back which pretty much tore it apart and I agreed with every word. I'll see if I can find it.

[/quote]To be honest I dont really remember it all that well. It was more about the national feeling at that time. The tories were on the way out, britpop was coming up, it was fucking sunny that year and England were doing well in the football.
I had a great year 1996.

Loved Gazzas goal against Scotland in that tournament. And Stefan Kuntz of course...
