Lampard, Essien, Joe cole, Ballack, Anelka, Drogba

Very impressive 6 I would say, no other squad can boast a midfield and striker combination as good as that in the PL at the mo IMO

On form that has to be one of the best 6 the PL has ever seen in a first 11 team (bar UTD 99, Ars unbeaten maybe)

They have to be favourites

Thats all

Ballack back in the day i'd agree with, but i think he's a bit of a lump now. As does the mrs. Who is a chelsea fan. So 😛

Also i don't think they others would get in the first team of a "best 11". Each of them are very good, but i think you're getting slightly hysterical.

I also liked the fact you gave 2 teams that would have been better than them when making the point that they're all incredible and all destroying.

I've had a long bad day so i'm generally not goign to be a happy bunny in any of my posts so apologies to all

4 of them are over 30 (considerably so in Ballack's case) and as the season wears on they might begin to suffer from a heavy schedule. Drogba and Essien will miss 6 matches too (African Nations Cup) - I am not overly convinced about Chelsea as favourites this season.

Torres - check
Gerrard - check
Mascherano - check
Aqualini - check (hopefully)
Yossi - check (recently)
Dirk - (check he works hard at it)

Added to that, where is the width? If they play all 6 they look very narrow and this has stymied their league chances over the last few seasons.

true, their width comes from their full backs. Only when Kalou is asked to play wide do i think there's somethign special. But thats because i think kalou is a bit of a talent

i do agree. Since when does mascherano attack!

Masher is as crucial in that by allowing others to get forward more readily he plays a significent role in our ability to attack and score goals.

I think Ballack and Essien are slightly more of an attacking threat than Masher LOL

Interesting to see how Africans cup affects them, as for the width thing they can make cole or anelka go wide or play malouda if they want.

Narrow or not, the worry me more than the mancs do, top strikers

Come on. Allowing other players to get forward cant constitute an attacking player. Essien is meant to be their holding player really and he's up and down that pitch all the time. We might as well say Reina allows us to attack more freely with those wonderful goal kicks he does.

Lets see how they cope in Jan & Feb when they lose Drogba & Essien.
Also, they've been beaten comfortably in their last two away games.

they'll cope just fine, the teams they play in that period are rubbish.

The original post stated that the Chelsea six constituted the best midfield/forward combo in the Premiership. I wasn't talking about the individual ability of each player to contribute to attacking solely. The importance of Mashers role in our midfield and the freedom it allows others to attack is, I would have thought, fairly obvious.

Oh, and I agree that Reina is a great source of starting attacking plays at times 😉

You can't count Cole, he's only just come back and could be out in another couple of weeks given his record.

Diaby is a very good player too.

Bendtner is also underrated by most people (except KHL).

Again, I wouldn't count Rosicky out of them as he's basically a permanent sick note.
