"With Voronin we were talking with Dynamo Moscow and it's also very close. The player is talking with them and we're also just waiting for the paperwork.

"The weather conditions have made it impossible to progress with these things but I think it could be done within a few hours."

I dont quite get these weather conditions thing. Dont most of us communicate via email or phone nowadays?

Nothing would please me more than to see Voronin leave these days.

I felt Dossena and Degen at least tried/wanted to do well, but this one has been a lost cause almost from day one.

Goodbye.

"Almost from day one" may be a bit harsh, but the things he said before and during his time in Berlin certainly showed how far away from Liverpool his head had got by then. The guy arrived making noises about winning a regular place, so maybe he thinks he hasn't been treated fairly, in which case what's inside his head is as ridiculous as what's outside.

I thought it was via fax machines.

Like has been mentioned in other threads, the money we get for these guys is only important if it is pumped back into new signings. If the Yanks are going to take it and pay bills with it, then there is no point selling them.
Yes, there is.

If we're not playing them,we shouldn't be paying them.

I presume he means flying Voronin to Moscow for a medical.

Andriy Voronin seals move to Dinamo Moscow

Ukraine striker Andriy Voronin
Voronin has failed to become a Liverpool regular

Ukraine striker Andriy Voronin has joined Dinamo Moscow on a three-year deal to end his disappointing spell with Liverpool.

The 30-year-old had returned to Anfield this season after spending the last campaign on loan at Hertha Berlin.

But he failed to establish himself in Rafa Benitez's side, despite Fernando Torres' injury problems.

Voronin scored just five league goals for Liverpool and made 40 appearances for the club in all.

"The transfer of Andriy Voronin can be considered accomplished," said Dinamo sporting director Konstantin Sarsania.

"We are delighted that such a strong player has joined Dinamo."

Voronin met his new coach Andrey Kobelevb on Saturday and put pen to paper on his deal.

Voronin said: "I had options for continuing a career in Germany, and several in Russia, but eventually opted for Dinamo.

"I liked the professional approach of the leaders of the Moscow club during the negotiations, and I also liked the conversation with the head coach Andrey Kobelev.

"Our views came together. Dinamo have set high goals. I'm interested. I believe the Russian league is of a very good level."

Decent price.

2 down.

Degen next please.
Not quite so desperate to see the back of him if Magic and Kelly are both out for another month.

I'm not bothered mate. If the chance arises we should take it. We tried to shift all the dead wood in the summer and got nowhere with it, and given the financial position we're in, we can't afford to carry too many passengers. Darby isn't as shit as being made out and can do a decent job.

I thought Kelly was back sooner?

Regardless of what else happens in this transfer window, it's been a good January.
I'd hold off on that for now,Raf...we've no idea if he's going to bring anyone else in yet .

How much have we recoup selling Doss & Vor?

True Menon, we don't have any confirmed signing yet. Maxi's gone awfully quiet!

Yep. Voronin was never good enough for LFC. Rafa dhould have never signed him at the first place.
I had hopes for Dossena, but he too was never going to be good enough for us.
Degen should go next indeed.

On another note, apparently Moses is now set to join Manchester city for 3.5 million. Guess it was only to be expected, since we can barely afford the rubbish Greek defender.

Goodbye and.. ehm... good luck, I s'ppose...

Having recouped around £7M on Voronin and Dossena seems like a good bit of business to me, and it surely underlines over stature in the market. Even fringe players at Liverpool will come rather costly. I like that.

It doesn't underline anything. Other than the fact we're shipping out shit players who were never good enough to play for us.

Dossena is being sold at a loss, and Voronin's a Ukrainian International we landed on a free - we were inevitably going to get some money back on him, although maybe not enough to cover a signing on fee. I don't know.

The claim that recouping money or making a profit is a positive is missing the point somewhat.
We still had them in our squad when we could have had better players. We still wasted signing on fees, wages and bonuses on these losers. And having players like that in the squad still stopped us winning anything.

If we must have shit players I'd rather get some money from them but I'd much rather Benitez had never signed them in the first place.

No-one will disagree with that statement.

Having said that you can't sign players and then ask for some kind of performance guarantee, there's always the risk someone won't be anywhere near 'value for money'. In this case it was rather obvious none of them where and then you'll have to do your best to ship them off minimizing losses.

Seen in that light we've done rather well and that is positive no matter how you choose to see it.

Just manageing to get in a few quid for Dossena and Voronin has made this a good January mate.

I think Rafa4's point is that getting shot of the Crow and Mr.Blobby, for what in the end were reasonable fees, is enough to make it a good January regardless of purchases. I'm somewhere between the two of you, in that I'm glad to see the back of those two but do also want to see replacements in the squad, whether new signings or promotions from the ressies.

If it's 'rather obvious' from the outset that they're not good enough then I think you have to question the wisdom of the manager for bringing them here. They're hardly isolated incidents.

I had my doubts over Voronin from the start (mostly because of his ponytail) and knew very little of Dossena, but he seemed like a good shout at the time, beeing an Italian International and all. After a while though it became obvious they weren't good enough the two of them.

These things happen in football though. All the time. And then it's all about recouping as much money as possible on your bad investments.

I'd had my doubts about Voronin too, but in my case they were based on watching him play for Ukraine and seeing a poser who achieved sod all. Like you I wasn't concerned at the prospect of signing Dossena, though Italian players don't always take well to the Prem (he says looking nervously over his shoulder at Aquilani).

I like the fact that Rafa is usually pretty quick to move bad buys on. I don't like the fact that we've made too many of them, at low to mid-price level anyway, during his time in charge.

I still keep my fingers firmly crossed that Aquilani will be the great exception that proves the rule with regards to Italian-players in the Premiership. Our very own Zola perhaps?

Please.

I almost can't bare to imagine him beeing offloaded come Summer to Napoli, after a completely mediocre year at Anfield.
