Strongly disagree. If Hughes ever played RB it was once in a blue moon, and Dalglish was only half the player when dropped back behind the front two. I'd have Babbel at RB, but otherwise Khalido's team is defo the one IMO.

Oh, and there is no way on this planet that anyone but Souness could be skipper.

Emlyn Hughes over Souey as captain everytime JJ, he was the most charismatic player in our history and his enthusiasm always spread throughout the team (T. Smith excepted 🙂.

I had to pick him at right back because there was no midfield berth available but he played right back for us and England on many occasions.

You're taking my line-up too literally, Keegan and Dalglish would support Rushy, maybe if I typed it...................

Keegan Dalglish
Rush

Cally was a superb player but if you wanted a genuine wide right man McDermott would get in ahead of him in my team.

Not sure, he was enthusiastic, but I think that probably grated with a few players after a while.

Let's agree to differ on Crazy Horse. I admire your loyalty to him and might have him in the squad, but he wouldn't get in my team.

Keegan would certainly be in the squad but likewise not in the team. For Dalglish to do maximum damage to the opposition he HAS to play right up front. For one thing he was literally unplayable with his back to goal, and for another the one thing he lacked was real pace, so you don't want him too far from goal if he gets an opportunity to go for it himself.

Terry Mac wasn't a genuine wide right man, I'm afraid. He was like Paddy Berger, always looking to come in from the wing. Cally it has to be if you're serious about wanting a right winger.

Gonna have to be a bit of a geek and pick you up on a few points...sorry!

McDermott was predominatly an attacking centre-mid, and was at his brilliant best in that position, dovetailing beautifully alongside Souey with Jimmy Case occupying the right-mid role, and R.Kennedy on the left - Our greatest ever midfield combo imho.

Emlyn Hughes would occasionally play at left-back for us and England but never right back, we had Lawler, then Neal for years never missing a game, with T.Smith sometimes filling in (74 cup final), also he aint getting in ahead of ultimate utility man Stevie Nicol, he had everything you could want from a full-back, and people forget he was voted PFA Player of the year in 89", an award almost exclusively given to attacking players.

Souness HAS to be captain. Roma 84" His insistance that the team do a lap around the incredibly hostile Olympic stadium before kick-off, showing the Italians we were Liverpool and feared no one, tipified his inspirational leadership. Hansen described the Roma fans just looking at him in awe..like some ancient Gladiator. That will do for me.

Temptation is always to find a place for Keegan, but the bottom line is Dalglish was better all-round and Rushy a better goalscorer.

Pepe Reina is the best keeper I’ve seen. I’d argue that the likes of Clemence and Grobbelaar had far better defences in front of them.
