"I did not feel supported after they signed Berbatov, because I was the man for the job he was bought to do.

"Ferguson told me not to be worried about Berbatov's arrival, but I did not like it when he started to put me on the bench often. I gave my life for the Manchester United shirt."

Would he really fit in here at Liverpool?

Sounds to me like he's a man that wants his place guaranteed.

Yup, makes much more sense for him to go to a team with:

Santa Cruz
Robinho
Benjani
Bojinov
Vassel
Sturridge
Jo
Bellamy

Than a team with, errrrr, Torres and N'Gog.

Sure the money never crossed his or his advisors mind.

Ive heard that he's been assured of this. Something Rafa wasnt prepared to do. Hence why he is going there.

It's obvious to anyone one with an 'apeth of brain cells that he's been offered a mega package from City.

What's happened to Dirk?

Well, if it doesn't work out for him in football there's always the catwalk.
Haha.

And if THAT doesn't work either, they always need help with the bells over at Notre Dame.

I dont see Eto'o, Bellamy, Robinho, Tevez and Santa cruz all being happy there.
Its going to end in tears.

Even though his agent said he definitely wouldnt sign for us and that we were out the equation?
Joorabchian's taken care NOT to say that, mate. What he's actually said is that Tevez would "find it difficult" to sign for us because of the United connection, which leaves his client plenty of wriggle room. Now Joorabchian is sharp as a tack and knows exactly what he's saying or doing, so the fact that he's avoided ruling out such a move (despite having had numerous opportunities to do exactly that) must be significant.
Nonsense. He isnt coming here. Hes city bound.

It's not remotely "nonsense". He may indeed end up at Citeh (and I've already made it clear I'm not definitely forecasting that he'll sign for us) but, if it were definite that he wouldn't be coming to Liverpool, Joorabchian would have made that clear by now. What he's actually done is say things like Tevez wanting a club with "roots" and "tradition", which sound a lot more like us than like Citeh. In short he's trying to keep his client's options open, like an agent should, and LFC is most definitely one of them.

"I gave my life for the Manchester United shirt."

I don't want to buy somebody who has died while none of us were paying attention. That'd be Rafa's worst signing ever.

Well in the interview I heard with him on Talksport, he definitely said it.

I still would not discount it 100%.
How much difference is there in the rivalry between City and Liverpool, quite a bit , but not that much.
Now Eto'o (the mercenary little shit) seems nailed, I just wonder if there is a twist in the tail of all this.

regards

Precious little. But there is a massive difference in weekly wages.

I don't think we'll get him, and despite how much he suits us, I'm not really that arsed.

I'm with you on both counts.

Yeah I think it's a combination of the price and the fact he's not really offering us the variation we need, he's like a quicker version of Deadly. I'd love to see someone with a bit more spark and invention.

Next summers interview:

"I did not feel supported after they signed Etoo, because I was the man for the job he was bought to do.

"Hughes told me not to be worried about Etoo's arrival, but I did not like it when he started to put me on the bench often. I gave my life for the Manchester City shirt."

I dunno mate, I think he's fantastic.

When I was agreeing with you on "not really being that arsed" it was more due to his attitude and demands. As a player, he's pretty fucking impressive.

Fair enough, I missed that. Even so, it surprises me because I can't see how ruling us out at this stage serves Tevez' best interests, so could it yet be a smokescreen? I'll believe we're out of the running if/when he signs for someone else.

without meaning to be a glass half empty kind of guy it's entirely possible johnson will turn out to be our 'major signing'. to be honest it isn't that big a deal if none of the big players go, we stay (relatively) injury free and the fringe players contribute more than they did last season (something they are more than capable of doing).
