Word on the street is that United have completed the search for their new man and they've landed ten hags.

Anyone think this could be the start of a true revival for them? Or more of the same?

There's lots of shit they need to sort out. They would need to hire someone who is allowed to change most of how the entire football club operates, and I tend to doubt they'll do that based on their decisions so far.

they should've gotten conte, but ole managed to blag two more weeks or something when he beat spurs

Ten Hags you say?

In all seriousness, the word on the street is McLaren is set to return as assistant manager.

That tells you all you need to know.

I don't know, TBH. The thing is Ajax have a clear identity, clear structure, clear way of playing. It's been engrained and entwined into their history for years. Managers benefit from that.

At United he's walking into an absolutely shit show in a far more pressured environment. Like others, I suspect Conte was a better fit to rebuild them.

Depends what he is allowed to do.

If the board, the fans and the self-important former players still think that a bit of tinkering here and there will bring the glory days back then they aren't about to give any new manager the time and freedom to do what is needed, which is a rebuild.

Hopefully they won't, and hopefully he fails.

there’s a lot of flip flopping from their fanbase with this, they seem to swing from a full rebuild required which sells everyone but Sancho/De Gea/Fernandez to “we’re only 3 players away from a title challenge”.

They’ll probably be the deciding factor with whether any lengthy rebuild is allowed to complete.

This guy will teach Klopp and thing or two. Utd to win the league within two seasons and become a force again for the next decade at least.

Has he done much, this bloke? I've heard the name for months now, but don't know what he's done, to deserve the hype... Other than throw away a near-certain spot in the European Cup final against us, that is.

By all reports a good manager, tactically astute, good man management. But he's a systems man, in that he's succeeded within a club that is well run top to bottom, which United certainly isn't at the moment.

Liverpool recovered due to the Klopp <> Edwards link following on from slow rebuilds over nearly 10years with Rafa/Rogers

[insert new manager] <> [insert name of latest clown] following on from Woodward <> OGS may, at best, restart the engines but they're years away.

Ten Hag's taken over a serially successful team that 'just' needed managing. Last 12 Years of Dutch premier division:

It’s too much to hope they fuck up the appointment again - I hoped they’d give Rooney a crack for a laugh, or “Giggsy”, or god forbid my sides would ever recover from splitting, but I was hoping against all hopes that they’d find it in their hearts to give the job to Gareth Southgate.

Ten Hags might be good unfortunately.

Yeah but they might bring the entire crowd, at which point he'd have half a chance. Isn't it Van Der sarr and some other famous old Dutch dude. Cocu or someone. Whoever it is they're meant to be a great team.

Yeah, I think they might get this one right. Unfortunately. The player recruitment will however determine if they can be a challenger or not.

Can see them going for Anthony if Ten Hag signs.

Ajax fan on redcafe:

I think he's a fantastic manager.

I don't think he's a good match with United whatsoever though, and think he will fail at the club.

I think in fact that of all the top 5-7 clubs of each of the top 4 leagues, United is probably the worst fit for him out of all of them.

Is that not kosher any more?
Eh, asking for a friend.

Ajax stated that their former director had sent "inappropriate" messages to "several women" over an "extended period of time".
"I am ashamed. Last week I was confronted with reports of my behaviour and how it was experienced by others," Overmars said.

"This behaviour is unacceptable. I see it now too. But it is too late. I see no other choice but to leave Ajax," he added.
"This also has a major impact on my private situation. That's why I ask everyone to leave me and my family alone."

Its just about how its experienced by others, as you can see from his comment. Clearly he was packing a pencil and it was just annoying to the female staff.

Way to ruin a joke.
🙂

I've seen one or two suggestions that ten Hag is Rangnick's choice and that the idea is for the two of them to start giving that club the kind of structure on the football side that they've missed ever since Woodward replaced David Gill. Where that leaves Woodward himself I wouldn't know, besides which there seems to be ongoing doubt about whether he's about to buzz off anyway, so they could be in for new turmoil behind the scenes just as ten Hagrid arrives.

Couldn't happen to a nicer club.
