Team VAR?

Sexist ! They allow girls to referee now, apparently. 🙂
Sian Massey-Ellis always seems competent when she is one of the assistant referees.
I don't know why she hasn't been promoted to full ref status as she couldn't be any worse than many of the regular blokes that do it.

The PL can afford to pay more, but the refs then would have to commit to refereeing full time (no second job) . Which includes going over games, Q&As, looking at inconsistencies, and training the next batch.
Apparently there are no BAME refs in the PL, why is that?

Yeah PGMOL has been questioned recently for it’s lack of diversity in it’s current representation of 200.

I think they should get promoted and regulated just like the teams.

They would each earn points based on reviews from managers and club captains - 3 days after each match, so they are less wound up from a game.

There simply need to be more consequences for poor performance (including VAR performance) and good performances should also be recognized and rewarded. Prize money to top 3 refs in each league.

Will never happen.

She is one of the very best assistant referees in the league. Being center referee is a different skill set. Some can do both well, many other cannot. So much game management involved, while being an assistant is much more technical.

When I was reffing, I found being an assistant ref much harder than the center.

I think once they reach the championship they’re either ref or Lino. They don’t change.

No manager that has a contentious decision go against them is going to give a good mark. I'm sure they could find appropriate less biased markers though so I support the theory...

I think the managers will be less biased after a few days. All managers want good, fair, consistent referees. It is the inconsistency that kills.

We sure know that supervision by Mike Reilly is worthless and the referees protect their own.
