Rafa needs to grow some balls for this one:

---------------Reina----------------
Johnson--Carra-Agger--Aurelio
---------------Mascher-------------
-Kuyt---Gerrard-Aquilani--YB/AR
---------------N'Gog----------------

Fucking do it. Sink or swim time I reckon. I'd rather go down trying all out to win.

The partnerships are clearly wrong, the results speak for themselves, and Mascher has been in brilliant form these last couple of games, Skrtel, Lucas and Insua need time out of the spotlight.

I'd have that team with one change, if both are fit enough to play most of the game then I would drop Kuyt, have Benny on the right AND Riera on the left. Let's go and fucking take it to the opposition for once this season.

Highly unlikely. Aurelio will not start since he's coming back from injury and since he played last night. Benayoun, on the other hand, will. Hopefully, Aquilani can come on after 60 - no chance of him starting though. I think we'll roll out with

--------------------Pepe------------------
Johnson----Carra---Agger-----Insua
--------------Lucas----Masch-----------
Kuyt--------------Gerrard--------Yossi
---------------------N'gog----------------

.............................................Reina...................................................

Johnson.............Carra......................Agger.............................Aurelio

......................Masher........................Gerrard....................................

Kuyt..............................Benayoun.............................................Riera

........................................Ngog..........................................................

If Aurelio isn't fit to play then maybe Dossena. Insua REALLY needs a break now.

Move Gerrard forward and give Kuyt a rest if Aquilani can start.

If Riera is fit again, I would go for that too.

lucas and kuyt will start. agger will give way for skertel. hell i even reckon rafa will see something in voronin during training and drop n'gog.

What on earth are you talking about?

He'll play Agger even if he's only half fit.

reina
insua
agger

Johnson

Is Riera definitely fully fit?
[/quote]
Fingers crossed he is. We are in desperate need for players capable of turning defenders. Besides our shaky defense that has been our biggest issue so far this Season. Benayoun has almost been alone in that department.

Riera, Benayoun and to some extent Babel are our best shouts - apart from the obvious Gerrard, Johnson and Torres - to give us this edge.

Watching how easy Agger showed the Hungarians a set of heels last night really underlined the main problem having Lucas playing alongside Masher. They are not capable of changing the pace of the game through a man-to-man challenge or a mazy run. It's all about passing it sideways and that's very easy for defenders to, well, defend against.

They were saying on SSN this morning that Torres is a strong possibility for Sunday

That would be like a Christmas present coming early.

Aquilani (the injury prone midfielder) will not play on Sunday. The Derby is always a kick-fest so I dont think Rafa is stupid enough to risk him.

I don't think Rafa will ever 'risk' him. We'll keep him safely sat on the bench, and maybe some warming up, but we don't want to stretch him beyond that. We have to keep him fit so we can not play him.

Maybe if we're winning and need to protect a 1-0 lead, instead of bringing on a defender, he'll give Purple another 50 seconds of valuable playing time.

Yeh I'd go with that with Torres up front if he's fit as I'm sure you would too. however I doubt Rafa will. Play the usual Lucas and Masher in midfield with Insua at left full.

Wouldn't be too much of a surprise if Aurelio starts as he'll have from tuesday night to sunday afternoon to recover. Hopefully Rafa takes this into consideration and the fact that he's a much better player than Insua. Aquilania should probably come on again when at a stage when he won't have a chance to get a touch of the ball, preventing him from getting injured.

On second thoughts, Rafa is that fucking barmy that I actually expect Aquilani to start on Sunday.

Ha ha. Yeah, he's like one of those really posh sofas that your grandparents covered in cheap transparent plastic so they wouldn't get 'spoiled'.

Well our next game is another kick fest away to Blackburn so I guess we are looking at Fiorentina on 9th December

For this game only i'd go for:

------------------Reina----------------
Johnson----Carra-Agger----Aurelio

Kuyt-----Mascher----Aquilani---Gerrard

---------------------Yossi-------------------
-------------------N'Gog----------------

Which ever LB we play they're going to need some help, so i'd opt for Stevie out there.

Reina

Johnson-Carra-Agger-Insua

Gerrard-Mascherano-Aquilani

Kuyt-Torres-Babel

Why not try something new? At least Kuyt and Babel would get to play in their natural positions. We'd have more of an attacking threat and that 3 man midfield would be a match for anyone.

BTW everton are 2-0 down at hull 😀

I'll take some joy in their plight IF we manage to beat them, but not before.
