im expecting a massive performance from our boys!!!
i think we will do it and get to hamburg in the final

------------------------Reina------------------------
Masch----------Carra------Agger----------Magic
------------------------Lucas------------------------
---Yossi-------------Gerrard-----------------Babel
-------------------Aquilani---------------------------
--------------------------Kuyt------------------------

i think thats how we will line up

Johnson will be up against Reyes on the left, and as he is left footed he'll cut in 9 out of 10 times. Being a right footed defender is a good thing when you play against wingers like that. It was the same when Arbeloa was up against Messi...

Excellent call.

One issue though, Johnson isn't as good a defender as Arbeloa, his positioning is worse and his tackling isn't quite as good, he's just blessed with speed to make up for it. He's also been off form.

I think Johnson has enough quality to contribute in attack on his wrong side as well, and Atletico will leave space if we are on our game to exploit it.

I like that fact that we'll be swinging in crosses with a right foot from the left, like Young does for Villa. Much harder to defend.

I completely disagree with that. Inswinging crosses go straight on to the defenders' heads far more often than outswinging crosses used to, when they were the norm not all that long ago. United for one still prefer outswingers a lot of the time.

I agree JJ. An inswinging ball is moving away from the attacking player making it harder to get something on to it. And the reverse is also true.

True, but often all you need is the faintest touch on an inswinging ball and it's in the net - as we saw, for instance, with Gerrard's free-kick against West Ham recently.

Both are viable means of attack. The key is to mix them up and not give defenders the same task each time. And the other key is to get your forwards in the box: half the time our crosses are floated over a penalty area filled only with defenders.

A faint touch on an outswinger makes the ball travel even faster though, Bunny, because of the speed at which it's already travelling when the attacker's head meets it. I agree about mixing things up, and about our not getting enough bodies in or on the edge of the box (one of whom incidentally needs to be Gerrard as often as possible IMO), but overall I've never understood the relatively new-fangled preference for inswinging crosses and I'd reverse it pronto if it were up to me.

I think it will be
---------Reina
Mascher-Agger-Carra-GJ
------Lucas-Gerrard
Yossi---Aquilani----Babel
---------Kuyt

But Rafa could pick Babel up front, Yossi on the left and Kuyt on the right..we never know.
The fact he's moving Mascher from his best position to put Lucas there is beyond me.

Tragically means The Cunt sneaks back into the midfield, which usually means defeat.

You mean like when we snotted Benfica in the last round?
