Whilst furious at first I'm beginning to think this was not a bad deal at all.

As far as he is concerned I don't blame him for moving on, he gave 3 years here and in that time we've been getting gradually worse, both in league position, in personnel, in managers (excluding Kenny's arrival - which still isn't confirmed as a permanent one) and in style of play. For any world class player (inc. Stevie & Reina) it must be excruciating to be on the pitch and unable to make a major difference because of the dross around you. He could have stuck around but he's 27 in a few weeks and maybe, if he waits on more promises, then his chance will have gone and a player of his calibre really deserves to have something to show at the end of his career ( he didn't really deserve to be a World Cup winner and I think he knows his performances didn't really add much to Spain's efforts). I can understand after having been through the H&G regime that maybe he would be a little more skeptical this time around.

Yes, the timing was crap but I would put that down to his agent and Chelsea's planning - though it's not as if it was totally unexpected and then we went and did the same, if not worse, to Newcastle. Though the speed at which we moved for Carroll indicates to me at least that plans were already drawn up well in advance to install his replacement. I don't believe for an instant that Kenny & Comolli would endorse a panic buy.

As far as his going to Chelsea is concerned, well there are only 5 or 6 clubs that could have afforded him and three of those are in the PL. I guess it's better than his going to Manchester. If his injuries do reappear then it may indeed actually end up being helpful to us as we roar past them !

I also genuinely believe that we have seen the best of Senor T orres. He seems slower, much slower if I am honest - I'm surprised at how many defenders have kept up with him (or beaten him) in one on ones recently - and it seems those hamstrings are taking a huge toll on his speed, confidence, and ability to actually use his God given talents. The 2011 version of T orres is still a superb player - but maybe not the genius of a couple of years ago. And that susceptibility to injury .... and just as importantly the time he takes to recover and get back up to 'match fitness' was as often detrimental to our performances as the times when he demonstrated his occasional genius with something sublime and pulled a rabbit from a hat. We may not have admitted it but I'm sure many of us thought it.

I'm expecting the usual suspects and immature teens to vent here but for the rest just sit back and consider what this gives us. Two much younger and highly valued players have arrived. We made bids on a number of others ; Adam, Young & Warnock for certain, Richards was strongly rumoured too. Now Mark Mc hits we will be shopping at Harrods in the Summer - and we certainly seem to have the money in the bank to do it. There also seems to be no doubt now that Fenway are keen to get us back up there and in contention and are prepared to spend big to do so. Personally if 2 or 3 players of the calibre of those we've just bought arrive in each of the next 2 or 3 windows then we will be back around the top within two seasons ..... and considering where we were just a few months ago I'd have ripped your arm off, for even the possibility, last year.

I am not taking this negatively at all .... I believe we have just made a huge statement and shaken up those sitting in their armchairs, with a wineglass in their hands, from Manchester to London and beyond. A lot of concerned eyes will be watching our transfer activities next Summer.

n.b. I do wish whoever childishly made a forum Autocorrect of T orres to El Cunt would switch it off.

Re: El Cunt - True Feelings

I'm afraid it's too soon to turn the el cunt button off i'm afraid

as i don't know how to do it

Re: El Cunt - True Feelings

Sorry mate.

I got as far as 'I don't blame him for moving'.

I stopped reading then because I certainly do.

You know what, yep the El Cunt thing is childish, but considering the manner and attitude towards us in the past 72 hours, I think its applicable for a while longer.

i like having a universal enemy, well, one that matters more than owen or Spit. one who will play in the league often and make us angry. It'll galvanize the fans behind the new ownership and leadership

You may well have made an astute observation there Fabio.

Good post. I can see why he left, like the rest of us, but should have been for Europe!

PS: I prefer El Judas.

Well I for one am still hopeful of the serious career threating injury we have wished upon him

When we didn't qualify for CL last season, I already had the feeling that he would go. As soon as hodgson was appointed, I already told my friends its "bye-bye T.orres". Just surprised that he waited this long, after what Mascherano did in august.

I think we had this disccussion long ago, whether should we cash in on our prized assets to fund our future targets, to build a better squad. No need to repeat that again.

It's always disappointing when one of the best players left, but there's no need to keep a player whose heart is no longer in the team.

Fuck off with your apologist bullshit, he's a cunt plain and simple. El Cunt stays

It's not leaving the club what pisses us off.

It saying shit like "I'm committed as ever ... I always honour my contracts" and THEN leaving.

nope, don't blame t-orres for leaving at all, it's HOW he did and what he said when he left. but leaving? naw, I amazed he didn't leave in the summer.

That's certainly my main issue with him as well.

And then he's off to Chelsea? A team of key-players mainly my age who's inevitably going to rebuild sometime soon and who's even struggling in the League?

Apart from the gigantic pay-rise why would he go there?

Oh...

[/quote]

No. I'll tell you this much - on Friday the cunt did not even have the common respect to answer the phone to Dalglish - he refused to. That's just for starters. He has no respect for the club whatsoever - the board, manager or us, the fans. Despite everything he was given. And when I think about it - what did he gives us back 1 maybe 2 seasons out of 4. The rest he's sulked through. el Nino - how fucking apt. Everything that comes out of his mouth is empty words so no amount of trying have a balanced view or justify this cunts move will ever make it OK for me. He's acted like a cunt in every way, shape and form possible. Ergo he is El Cunt.

I am indifferent now. I got used to the idea quite quickly. He plays for Chelsea. So what? His words obviously meant nothing, his goals did not win us anything. He leaves no legacy only a tainted memory.

Not aplogist in the slightest. Realist maybe.

I'm not concerned with T orres at all. I'm concerned with LFC and IMHO this could be a blessing in disguise.

Agreed that this my main issue as well - the treachery and lies - the comments about how we are his only english club blah blah blah and furthermore the comments he made about three weeks ago about how committed he was to us really grate me.

BUT! seeing this (i know its a youtube) compilation of Suarez has filled me with some confidence (provided that he translates his Ajax form here) that we will be much better off with Suarez and Carroll.

Luis Suarez - El Pistolero 2

El Cunt is dead to me now. I'm not going to mention him again on this forum again other than laughing at him getting injured and the odd expletive.

Thanks Sunny. Meaning there is none, or we don't have it yet. Would like to appreciate how it all went down..

Can't believe the way he spoke in that interview. There's a way to say it, without being a SOB

"I wanted CL every year....didn't want to wait till I was 29 to play in it again"... I'd understand that, but this BIG CLUB shit, isn't something you should say about LFC, backed by FSG. In fact, it might even inspire the owners to greater ambition.

Is Reina the last of the Spaniards now? I look forward to the future, which it will be bright!

One thing I've learnt is to never get too attached to a player, like what krump has been doing.

So, sorry Suarez and Carroll, forgive me if I dont believe it when you say how much "you love us and want to stay here forever" in the future.

Yup I never ever thought Torres was full of PR shite. Lesson learned.
