Sylvian Marveaux

He's had two serious injuries, besides that he's played 25+ pr season. 35 games last season which was his best.

It's a good free transfer signing, and he's 24. We can actually sell him for a decent fee if it doesnt work out.

I've no idea at all mate. Bunny may be able to comment he follows the French league more closely than some

His career stats are nothing to write home about.

He did score 10 goals last season being his most productive as a LW so that's encouraging.

Let's hope for the best. Its about time we finally get lucky with a free transfer.

I really don't. I watch the odd match, but it's mostly Marseille, Lyon, Bordeaux, and the French national team. As far as I know, I've never seen this guy play at all. Sorry.

We have a pacy left winger, hip hip hooray!

Now for a left back (Taiwo), a pacy right winger cum striker (Young) and its gonna be something to behold. Liverpool in full flight with pace and guile! Frightening...

Are the chips falling into place for the King to launch an assault on the Premiership? I would love nothing better!

Forgive me lads for getting ahead of myself.

Isn't that how we're gonna build a squad Sunny?

Under the radar potential coupled with a superstar signing?

Tell me about it.

I just had a Gonzales flashback.

It might be worth a shot on a free transfer; but say it's a 3 year contract at 55,000 a week as suggested by Binny's post and he gets a signing-on fee that's still probably 4-5 million right there.

I've not seen the lad play to be honest but it does somewhat concern me when a players youtube clip shows him taking a corner and devotes 3 replays to it

With all due respect to Kenny, this has the strong possibility of Comolli written all over it.

Who decides what players we get?

Pellegrino
Zenden
Voronin
Degen
Jovanovic

give me enough reason to dread every free signing we make.

We have just about managed to sell Voronin. Degen is still on our books and we have only managed to send him on loan, and we will have a massive fight on our hands to try and off-load Jovanovic.

Should we really be taking on another free transfer who has a history of injuries? The question needs to be asked.

10 goals in the season already so it can't be that bad.

What's Joe Coles best goal return in a season?

We could be onto to something here!

Agreed.

BTW, the lad's name is Sylvain, not Sylvian (see thread title... took 4 pages of posts before I spotted it). No idea if he's any good but I bet his name's probably going to be misspelled and mispronounced a lot!

So long as he scores goals it wouldnt matter!

The only way i think we'll be able to bulk up the squad or have options on the bench at the minute is this kind of signing. Yes the marquee signings will push people down to the bench, but in the case of wingers..... we've3 got no one to push down on to the bench as there is no depth there! rather than paying stupid (transfer fee) money for someone who ideally will just warm the bench i don't mind. He's young and unproven enough to not justify a massive wage. certainly a better answer to come on to the left side than jova

That's true, but Jovanovic was only ever a part-time LW before he arrived here and promptly found himself under Roy's tender care.

I think jova is misused personally, but he's done nothing to deserve to be in contention yet. He's not a left winger so we need one just so we have an option off the bench, our someone better to start than maxi

I wanna see what a fit and firing Joe Cole can do under Kenny and would like to see him get a run in his best position.

There's opportunity for players to make Kenny re-think whether he should ship or keep them. The more fierce the competition for starting berths, the better our quality of the first team.

Jova I'm afraid is quiet a lost cause and he'll have to do something miraculous to escape the noose come end of the season. Should have been shipped to Wolfsburg for the 6M offered.

A fit and firing Joe Cole doesn't exist.

Reports he's signed a pre-contract - coming on a free in the summer
[/quote]

Good signing that, and especially for free.

24 years old with loads of potential, but also everything in his locker to succeed. If not, sell on for decent money.

They denied offering 6 million for Jovanovic.

Considering how hard it was to shift Babel at a 50% loss you dont really think we'd have been able to shift Jovanovic?
