Super League II

Any chance we will revisit now it’s been given a semi green light by the courts?
Four of the six English clubs have released statements pledging allegiance to UEFA. We haven't. But we won't be going back in without at least five other clubs alongside us as 15 PL clubs could vote to eject us from the league (and anyone else for that matter).
And I think I read somewhere that the effect of yesterday's verdict was that the Superleague would need UEFA consent, and turkeys don't vote for Christmas.
I don't think this is quite dead, but it's on life support and the prognosis is not good.

In its ruling, the EU's top court said that FIFA and UEFA abused their dominant position by forbidding clubs to compete in a European Super League, although that project may still not be approved as the court did not rule on it specifically.

"WHAT FLORENTINO PEREZ SAID

Perez said: "At Real Madrid we welcome with great satisfaction the decision taken by the Court of Justice of the European Union, which is responsible for guaranteeing our principles, values and freedoms.
"In the coming days we will carefully study the scope of this resolution, but I do anticipate two conclusions of great historical significance.
"First of all, that European club football is not and will never be a monopoly again. And secondly, that from today the clubs will be the owners of their destiny. Clubs see fully recognized our right to propose and promote European competitions that modernize our sport and attract fans from all over the world. In short, today the Europe of freedoms has triumphed again and today soccer and its fans have also triumphed.
"Faced with the pressures we have received for more than two years, law, reason and freedom are imposed today. And for this reason, Real Madrid will continue to work for the sake of football."

I expect there will be a competition proposal in due course. Only a question of when not if in my opinion.

In order to maintain the status of the PL, I would reduce it to 13-14 teams. They play each other 3 times (H,A and Neutral). Who wants to see Everton play Luton on a Wednesday night besides their fans?

In the absence of scm i saw a lot of Reddit soccers discussion and it seemed to have the tone of this happening now. I was surprised by that, i thought the fan reaction alone was strong enough to put all the clubs off another attempt?

Honestly I see positives with this. UEFA and FIFA are just adding new tournaments and more matches and clubs barely have a say on the matter.
I don't like the super league, but clubs might use this as leverage.

Yesterday’s ruling by the European Court of Justice does not change Liverpool FC’s previous stance on a proposed European Super League. Our involvement has been discontinued.
We will continue to work with fellow clubs through the ECA and participate in UEFA competitions.

Excellent news. It's true that the current set-up is incompetent and corrupt, but anyone - here or elsewhere - who seriously imagines the Superduper League would improve things in either respect needs medical attention, besides which attendance at games would be taken out of reach of the vast majority of ordinary fans once and for all.

Does this support to present structures means the UEFA and the FA will uphold the FFP principles dearly now.

Clubs will keep an eye on this and if the money ever gets serious they will jump. If the big six in the premier league agreed to go the rest would be stuffed. FSG and their contemporaries would love to fill Anfield with corporates and tourists spending £100's each visit on hospitality or in the club shops. If they could also negotiate control of the tv rights as part of the move and get the stay away dyed in the wool fans to pay to watch on TV, which let's face it we would do because we can't help ourselves, then it really would be the perfect business model for them. As much as I hate to say it I would support Liverpool whatever the current or any future owners do because I just couldn't imagine Liverpool not being part of my life

Unless you yourself are a member of the rich clientele which such a move would be aimed at, you'd better start imagining it if we jump ship to join the Super League. The prices even for a TV sub would skyrocket, Anfield and other top stadiums would turn into the Emptyhad and before too long the game would start to wither on the vine. Occasional references have been made in the past to the football bubble bursting, and IMO that day would take a giant step closer if the Super League came about.
