Sunderland (H)

I'd swop Agger for Sakho, and maybe Lucas for Gerrard.

I'd keep Sterling on the bench cos Sunderland defend deep and I'd prefer Coutinho buzzing around in front of the back four.

Spurs play the highest defensive line in the league so save Raheem for that one and bench Coutinho then.

On the other hand, Coutinho's through balls to Sturridge could be devastating against a high line defense.

Resting players? With 8 games to go when we can win the fucking title?

Are you guys on crack??

There is no reason any player in our squad should be tired.

They had a r&r break before Utd ffs.

Rest at the end of the season.

I don't want to lose the title by resting players in games we should win without them.
That's what cost Rafa time and time again

There is a different between resting and rotating.

Rotating = playing the correct players based on the opposition
Resting = playing a deputy to give the preferred player for that position a break.

I haven't seen anyone (except for Trolling Hague) suggest we rest players, they are suggesting we rotate and put in the strongest team we can for this.

Oh Gus...

Sunderland head coach Gus Poyet set off for Liverpool hoping compatriot Luis Suarez would be struck down by before he could do any more damage.

The 46-year-old Uruguayan and his players face a huge task at Anfield on Wednesday evening as they attempt to bounce back from an abject display in Saturday's 2-0 Barclays Premier League defeat at Norwich which left them deep in relegation trouble.
They will arrive on Merseyside to confront a Reds juggernaut piloted largely by Suarez, whose haul of 28 league goals to date this season is two more than Sunderland's entire squad has managed.
Poyet has been aware of his countryman for some time, but admitted he did not expect him to catapult himself into the highest echelons of world football.
The Black Cats boss said: "I saw him once in a summer friendly game. He was just starting, I think he was 17 or 18. He was a powerful striker playing on his own, but of course, not the player we are seeing today.
"To be honest, I wasn't even thinking he would be so good. He played a decent game, but now he is on another level.
"Now you can compare him with the top players in the world because he makes the difference somehow."
Poyet added with a smile: "It's going to be tough. I hope he gets ill tonight."

Suarez and strike-partner Daniel Sturridge have plundered a total of 47 league goals between them to fire Brendan Rodgers men firmly into the title race.
However, Poyet firmly believes they would be languishing in mid-table had it not been for the Uruguay international.
He said: "I am not surprised, that's why they have got a chance. Without Suarez, they would probably be in mid-table.
"It's not about how they play, how they defend, how they pass the ball, it's about having a player who is going to be voted the best player of the year by everybody, if we are honest."
By contrast, Sunderland find themselves entrenched at the opposite end of the table with goals at one end at a premium - midfielder Adam Johnson's seven in the league equals the sum total managed by strikers Steven Fletcher, Jozy Altidore, Fabio Borini and Ignacio Scocco - and a depressingly familiar occurrence at the other.
With Fletcher nursing another ankle injury - Poyet admitted the prognosis is not good - and loan signing Borini ineligible to play against his parent club, 20-year-old Connor Wickham has been recalled from Leeds.
However, while knowing his team needs to improve significantly with games running out fast, the South American insists he is not worried by their plight.
He said: "No, I am not worried because I knew the first day I got the job that it was a very big challenge, if not nearly impossible.
"Now we will see. We have got 10 games. I am not going to hide. I am going to be here and I am going to take responsibility, but let's wait and see.
"In the same way as I ask the fans to wait until the last game of the season to give their opinion on the team and the signings and individuals, I am going to do the same.
"Until the last game of the season, the last second against Swansea, I am going to be here believing it's possible because if not, it's not worth it, let's be honest.
"I am not going to be here just to have a job. I am here because I believe that we can be better than at least three teams. That's the aim from here to then."

Pretty harmless thing for anyone to say, but the fact that he's in the limelight, and the media love this type of shit, it was very stupid of him.

And where would Sunderland be without the goals from our Borini?

Even further entrenched in the relegation battle?

Yes, without his 3 league goals (2 of which were penalties) Sunderland would almost certainly already be relegated.

I know you enjoy being a petulant cunt but listen up ya knob head because I'm bought fuck you up with some truth.

Sunderland is currently tied with Cardiff City, 2nd from bottom with 25 points. Fulham is last with 24.

Borini scored the winner against Newcastle on October 27th, he scored the first in a 2-2 draw with Southampton on January 18th.

Without those two goals Sunderland would be dead ass last in the league table with 21 points, 3 points back of 19th place Fulham.

Oh and you weren't correct about Borini's penalty tally either because he has only scored one in the 3-0 win against Newcastle on February 1st. But I will let your daftness slide on that one, you probably read his stats incorrectly on his Facebook page...err a fake Facebook page of his.

If we win today we'll go a huge way towards tying up 3rd, giving us a 5 points gap on Arsenal with them still have to go to Everton and face City at the Emirates. Obviously we have some huge games coming up which we could lose, so building up that gap is imperative.

Good opportunity to rest some key players before the 4th place shootout against Spurs this weekend.

Mignolet

Johnson
Skrtel
Sakho
Cissokho

Lucas
Allen

Coutinho
Sterling
Moses

Aspas

I'm all for confidence in our team and having more belief than we're accustomed too, but that's too far the other way. Sunderland are fighting for their lives, and what they lack in quality, they may just make up for in spirit. To rest our three best players is nuts. Play a strong side, and take off the big guns in the second half when we're three up. I'm not a fan of complacency.

Gus Poyet is probably just talking up his fellow compatriot more than anything. No need to take it personal - just need Sturridge to score a hat-trick.

Seriously? Rest/Rotate players?

If these players are not itching to be on the field for every remaining game for the whole 90mns they do not deserve to be wearing our Red shirt.

Play strongest side.

Mignolet

Johnson
Agger
Skrtel
Flannagan

I'mnot feeling all that good about this game. This may be where our players take the foot off the gas and suffer for it. Sunderland will be well up for it...

Our players think we have a chance of winning the league. I don't see how in any way they would take their foot off the gas!

RED OR DEAD!!

I'm hoping there is an almighty surge of noise tonight as it's out first home game in three games, and our first since we became really serious title contenders. Hopefully that'll be enough to spur the players on 110%.

Nah, a sluggish start and 3 conceded against Cardiff is all the warning this team will need, and should also serve as equal motivation for a quick start.

Crowd will be up for it being as we are champions elect, Sunderland will park the bus like they did at Wembley.

We've got this.

The atmosphere will be electric tonight. A mate of mine flew over today and I'm gutted that I couldnt take the other ticket because of work.

Rumoured line up:

Mignolet, Johnson, Skrtel, Touré, Cissokho, Lucas, Allen, Coutinho, Moses, Sturridge, Suarez
