I reckon we'll smash these cunts, only question I've got is whether we'll score 4 or 5.

Fletcher seems to have cooled a bit as of late but Johnson is starting to show some form so if Joe Henry's hamstring keeps him out that could be a worry spot for us.

Sturridge to play??

The problem with the QPR game was it was a no win situation. If we got beat it would have been headline news. If we win it would have been average cause we should have smashed them and, if we smashed them then it would have been an anyalysis on what a huge job Harry has in front of him.

Whatever, those three points will mean pretty much nothing if we don't get another three against this lot. They're a hell of a lot better than what we just played. They'll pretty much park the bus for the first half hour and we'll be working hard to break them down. I hope Suarez and Sterling get on the same wave length pretty quickly cause that's one area that's hurting us.

I'd still like to see Suso somewhere in behind Suarez.

I know people seem enamoured with the concept that Gerrard has to play there or he's a passenger but Downing and Sterling on the wings, Suso in behind Suarez and Gerrard a little furthe back is something I'd like to see for a couple of games. In fact, Gerrard and Lucas behind those four could give the captain the time and space to really influence the result.

You see, to me, it's a question of putting Gerrard in that free roll behind the front 3, not Suso and having someone else with more discipline than Gerrard alongside Lucas.

Gerrard's never really been one for controlling the tempo of a game, particularly from deep - he's always been more about creating havoc in the final third.

I know this goes against what some on here are intent on believing but Gerrard has already proven, in this month alone, that he knows how to dictate the pace of a game.

Plus, you put him in next to Lucas, with that quartet in front of him and he's got the free role to do as he pleases cause he seems to have a confidence in Lucas that the back of the field is sorted.

Pre-injury Lucas, maybe? Which games has he dictated the pace in midfield recently?

I always find, the deeper he plays the more propensity he has for attempting the Hollywood balls.

I don't want that to sound like he's not effective deep - but he's no Alonso for example.

Don't see why Suso gets so much praise. He's young (I get that) and I'm glad he's getting chances but for me he lacks a right foot and end product.

We usually lose or draw disappointingly after a big win. So .... hope we do not get a bad start for the new year.

----------------Reina
Johnson Skrtel Agger Downing
----------------Lucas
-----------Gerrard Hendo
--------Suso Suarez Sterling

Definitely consider Sturridge for Suso if he signs and perhaps let him and Suarez exchange position a few times to see how that works out.

Sturridge should play in the middle with Suarez on the left.

We should start this team against Sunderland:

-----------------Reina

Wisdom Skrtel Agger Johnson

------------Lucas--Allen

Sterling----Gerrard------Suarez

--------------Sturridge

Regarding Suso, he's an immensly talented footballer but I believe that we're playing him in the wrong position. He should be playing in the middle.
Remember the goal he created against WBA, that's the type of threat he carries when he attacks through the middle.

Suso has a great footballing brain and is very creative - hence why he may be very good right behind Suarez .. or he may not be.
Sturridge should be nowhere near starting considering he's probably not even met his new team mates ! Bench at best.
Suarez is amongst the very top scorers in the EPL - and yet some now want to shunt him out to LW (or should that be inside left) just because of Sturridge's arrival ? Pah ! What bollocks !

1-0 or 0-0. MON will have Suderland set up to frustrate the life out of us, one-dimensional twat of a manager that he is.

Nah - I think we'll nail them. I think Sterling needs to step up and is definitely due a goal. I predict he'll grab one.

Our entire midfield is due a goal.

Our four starting defenders (6 goals) are just three goals shy from equalling the number of premiership goals our midfielders (9 goals) have scored this season.

That's Agger,Skrtel, Enrique, Johnson vs Gerrard, Cole, Sahin, Sterling, Downing and Shelvey.

Like I said, he's done it this month (December) already.

He dictated the play from midfield against Fulham - was his best performance to that point of the season. Ran the show.

I might also point out that it was also a case of him enjoying having Lucas there again.

I'm taking my boy to this one. It's his first trip to Anfield.
He is VERY excited. A win, of any kind, would be great.
So many years have past but I can still remember the butterflies, the adrenaline, the pure excitement of that first visit as a kid. Have a great time Stu and hopefully you'll both go home with smiles on your faces.

While I don't expect any 'miracle run' in the second half, I think this game is very important. We were on a good run before the Stoke performance (I'm taking out Villa because we did play well, and had we got an early goal - we would have stomped them), and that shook the team a bit. It was a very a good response against QPR, but we need to see that vs Sunderland too. Win that comfortably and the confidence should be high enough to make things interesting against Manure & Arsenal over the coming weeks. It's a young team, and wins breed confidence and a swagger. Let's start off 2013 with a bang.

Just out of curiosity; why do people want a three at the back? If we are to give Rodgers and his system time, this certainly is a game were we need to play his 4-3-3? If his system ain't working against this load we can scrap it allready. Changing around formation from game to game is not giving the team or the system a chance to settle is it?

Webb gave us a penalty in the first minute against Stoke and we still fucked up.
