One of the biggest criticisms of him at Newcastle was that he was a bit of a luxury. He's a talented player and Rafa reckoned he was best suited to the left of the front three, or off the striker, but the Newcastle fans basically said that he only turned up when he wanted to and he didn't work nearly hard enough to be part of a central midfield. Nothing I've seen since has made me think any different, he's a bit of a roamer offering literally no protection to his midfield partner.

I hate to say it but I fear he's a bit too much of a passenger and a luxury that a side like this can't afford. We really needed a backbone instilling over the Summer and midfield is one of key areas where that strength as lacking. Have we addressed it with Wijnaldum?

Wijnaldum isn't a deep-lying CM, he's an AM / LW and he's being neutered by being shoe-horned into playing as a defensive midfielder, how is that playing to his strengths of speed and the potential for adding to our goal-scoring ? Play him in his best position(s) or don't play him. This is not getting Dahoud (or A.N.Other) coming back to bite us.

To add to that Henderson may be done, the injuries he's had having too much impact to recover from. He's been showing signs of a potential recovery but yesterday was awful yet again and I think his time as a starter may be coming to an end.

Grujic's time may come sooner rather than later, same may be said of Ejaria who's probably, even at 18 yrs old, our 2nd best defensive-minded midfielder, which says something !

DM i'm not so precious on. We have plenty of box to box middies who could do a job there. Henderson, Milner, Grujic to name but 3. Yes they aren't DMs but they could do a job as could Ejaria.

I didn't watch the game yesterday as something told me as soon as I seen Sturridge in the team it was doomed to failure. I really hope Klopp doesn't have his favourites and picks players on form, because Origi should have 100% been starting yesterday.

Anyways over a week to go.. Over to you Mr Klopp. Get the chequebook out.

Ejaria is 18 - he has heaps of potential but you wouldn't be starting him and damaging his confidence.

You mention henderson milner doing a 'job' but they are fucking shit at that position and not disciplined/good enough/smart enough to play that role.

To be honest superchimp, my hatred of Henderson is well known on these forums. I'd rather have him as a DM than a box to box midfielder, i'd prefer he didnt play at all. But Klopp seems to like his work rate. Milner isn't too bad a DM, he has the discipline.

Ha, I laughed at this because it's painfully true. I mean, it's a joke that we've spent a load of money and we have at least 3 or 4 players in the team playing out of position. Yesterday it was Henderson, Milner and arguably Sturridge and Wijnaldum we're both too deep for large portions of the game. It's bonkers really.

Especially since we had Stewart sitting on his hands. Not everyone's cup of tea but he is 100% better than Henderson at DM. Klopp could have played Stewart and Hendo (B2B) if he absolutely wanted to have Henderson in the team. Guess he wanted to keep Wijnaldum happy too.
