I know the window hasnt slammed shut but our transfer activity has been pathetic if you think about it for 30 seconds. You couldnt lack ambition much more and klopp looks like he has the typical blindspots all non-winning managers seem to have.

Such as?

Apart from Mane and Karius I think the rest will be meh.

We've been crying out for a left back and holding midfielder for years. I really can't understand why we've not bought for either position.

Gruijc will be boss. Matip will be boss. Wijnaldum is boss.

180 mins into the season... And the World is about to end.

No the world isn't going to end but there's no evidence the problems from last season have been addressed. We've conceded 5 in two games.

We've signed 1 goalkeeper and 2 CB's. We've certainly adressed some of the areas that needed strengthning.

Need a left back and a holding midfielder.

One side of me is 'Weve been here before we are fucked'

The other part is 'Too early to fucking panic'

We did smash them up, we just lost. Another day Coutinho and Sturridge do their thing and we blitz them.

2 shots on target. 2 nil though is hard to fucking swallow.

I thought Coutinho did do his thing today

I.e fuck all

He annoys me so much in games like this, he tries too many twists and turns yet the better option is on, slip in overlap or play square. Granted he's not alone. Poor all round today

It isn't his fault that we've made an inconsistent player our key player. We can't take him off because the other key player are less likely to win the game for us.

We used to be able to substitute / drop Dirk, Maxi, Garcia etc because we always had a Gerrard, Torres, Suarez etc. We don't have that luxury with Coutinho.

Not saying it's his fault, it's just the Liverpool way. Relying on moments of magic rather than consistent talent.

Coutinho should not, and never will be a main man.

I said I had issues with our summer transfer activity in the post-match Arsenal thread.

We ended last season with an unbalanced midfield and a lack of quality out wide..... we don't appear to have gone anywhere near far enough in addressing that.

I really hope Matip and Karius prove themselves to be top class because unless something drastic happens, it feels like that's where we have to hope the genuine improvement comes from.

We need another direct attacker, similar to mane. Today we were crying out for that

I don't know to what extent Klopp is having to work with what he's got - we've invested heavily in the likes of Firmino and Lallana so perhaps there is pressure or a cold hard need to make it work - but it does feel like we've shirked having to make some tough decisions.

I would've liked us to sort out the midfield proper and settle on an attack that we can rely on week in, week out.

As things stand, we look to be shoehorning players into the side and it shows.

The line up today reminded me of the way City used to line up at times with Yaya and Silva in midfield and poor 'ol Fernandinho (who is not a DM either) left to try and hold the fort. They struggled with it and they were much much better than we are.

What kind of player is Wijnaldum? I'm assuming he's a 'box to box' central midfielder. If so, is he an upgrade on Henderson??

One of the classic benchmarks is the 'spine' of the team. What the hell is ours?

When you compare it to United's now: De Gea, Bailly, Pogba, Ibrahimovic; then we are miles off.

We are fucking minted Ken

What a pathetic thread.

We've sold squad players/not good enough players for £80 odd million, we've bought in Mane who is a beast, a better goalkeeper than Mignolet, One of the better CB's in Germany (Matip), Wijnaldum who was Newcastle's best player and previous captain of PSV and is a Dutch international player, Grujic - a young kid with heaps of potential, Klavan who is a decent CB.

IMO, this is one of the better windows we've had in a while.

All we need is a LB and a DM.

One of the biggest criticisms of him at Newcastle was that he was a bit of a luxury. He's a talented player and Rafa reckoned he was best suited to the left of the front three, or off the striker, but the Newcastle fans basically said that he only turned up when he wanted to and he didn't work nearly hard enough to be part of a central midfield. Nothing I've seen since has made me think any different, he's a bit of a roamer offering literally no protection to his midfield partner.

I hate to say it but I fear he's a bit too much of a passenger and a luxury that a side like this can't afford. We really needed a backbone instilling over the Summer and midfield is one of key areas where that strength as lacking. Have we addressed it with Wijnaldum?

I have to admit...going into a season with a Cm/Rm as our first choice Lb because we don't trust the one Lb we have in our team is not really the brightest decision.

Hopefully we fix it in the next 10 days.

Oh and Sturbridge needs to be used only as Super Sub for a while and shown that he needs to earn his place....downright stinky lack of desire was there for all to see.

We can't have that kind of Shit in a team that just ran over 12km the previous match.
