Summer Shenanigans

In the last few years we seem to endure a never ending saga in any transfer window we enter into. We've had the Barry saga, the Alonso saga and the Charlie Adam saga. We found a resolution for some whereas others will inevitably return to rear their ugly Italian heads.

Two players we we're heavily linked to in the summer we're Jones and Young. Both went to United, as we all know. I'm glad the Ashley Young buzz has died down a bit. Yeah he helped dismantle a weak Arsenal side but he was playing alongside a rampant Wayne Rooney. Has he been injured as it's gone a bit quiet on the Ashley Young front?

Now over to Jones, who looks a cunt btw, but also looks a fine player. Already in the England set up and plays for United most weeks. They love him there already. I was hoping he'd be a donkey but he looks the part. Has anyone been impressed by him or still not buying into it? When Kenny came over the top with a bid I started to feign interest in him and ended up gutted he went to their instead.

On a side note, did both turn into pricks over night when they signed for united or we're they always one? They both have punchable faces, very punchable faces.

Maveraux was another we spent a summer being linked to. He ended up at Newcastle and ended up a crock. We dodged another 'free' signing there. Did we dodge any other bullets from last summer?

On the flip side was it last summer we tried to nick Mario Gomez on loan? Imagine having Gomez at our disposal.
Fucking Comolli. 😉

Re: Phil Jones

I never really noticed him much for Blackburn, but he looks a decent enough CB.

He looks like a massive cunt though, so he fits in well in Manchester United.

HUGE EDIT ILD! - speaking about Jones above.

Young is going to be a fine player for United. Downing was good for Villa, but Young was always capable of being a class above. Anyone who knows football could see it. I remember in the Downing thread people were clinging onto Downing being the 'fans player of the year' and other such bollocks.

Did a quick edit to my original post there. Didn't want my post to be all about Phil fucking Jones. Ha.

We could have signed Mata. :'(

We dodged the Wickham bullet too. He doesnt seem to be doing well for Sunderland; but he's still young.

Wickham scored a nice goal on his return from injury a few weeks back. I haven't seen much of him in fairness. Waaaay too early to call that one.

Was gutted we missed out on Jones as i was majorly impressed by him at Blackburn.

He's had some storming games for United but also some dodgy ones as well. Obviously a massive prospect - powerful, quick and good on the ball. In saying that i'm not convinced he'll be a top class centre half, he's not particularly tall or dominant in the air. Been caught out quite a few times playing there.

He's performed best at right back where he can bomb up and down all game.

I've not been impressed with Mata at all so far this season.

cant say im bothered at missing out on him so far.

Phil Jones will be one of the best players in Britain within the next year or two.

If he isn't already.

your joking right, ashley young would walk into our team

Is this directed at me dude?

I didn't say he wouldn't. I'm quite glad the the Ashley Young buzz died down after a very bright start to the season for him.

I'm worried he's gonna be a beast for club and country. He is already impacting games from RB this season. Smalling must be gutted. Phil Jones came in and skipped him in the queue.

Gomez was the summer before , Hodgson tried to get him and I believe was only a few hrs from doing so but Bayern changed their mind .

Going in Euro 2008 the german's believed he was world class , he was banging them in for stuttgart and expected a big move that summer , chelsea and obviously bayern were heavily linked . Loads of germans were even telling me he would be better than torres at that comp. Anyway he was absolute shite with some really embarrassing misses and dropped for all the knock out games .He was so bad he even missed out on his big move . But he banged them in again that following season for Stuttgart and moved for like £30m to Bayern . He was hit and miss that 1st season which is why we nearly got him but since then he's scored 39 goals in 45 and 21 in 20 this season . I still don't think he's world , world class but he knows how to score and might have been a great bit of business. Pity . On the bright side we have Andy carroll now . oh .

Anyway , that concludes today's lesson on the life and times of Mario Gomez .

No we couldn't. Chelsea were the only deal both Mata and Valencia were interested in.

He could very well be their new 'Keane'.

Looks the part. Will get shitloads of red cards throughout his career mind.

Come to think of it, where was he supposed to play? Centreback or midfield? Seeing how Agger-Skrtel and Lucas-Adam has done, would he get as many games here as he does at Man Utd now?
