I was very disappointed not to see him play today, I know we still had a great result. I hope he gets a full game against wigan, as a striker and not stuck out on the wing. Does he have a slight injury?

We won without out 50mil strikeforce whoop

so true given today's game.

I'm guessing Kenny felt The Diggler would hold the ball up or win more in the air late on and sometimes in games like that it's good not to change too much.

Plus I don't see any harm in bedding him in , he hadn't played since the start of Decemeber . Actually in the long term that break could do him good because he was back playing for ajax only 3 weeks after the World Cup and I guess he'll be playing in this year's Copa America which runs until the end of July .

But yeah hopefully he'll start against wigan.

He never would have been replacing Diggler.

He would have replaced Maxi, but Kenny obviously decided to bring a defensive player on at that point.

He's going to get plenty of games for us.

I think it was the right decision not to play him as it would have been a massive game to throw him into, especially as he's probably still building up his fitness.

Ahh.....the voice of logic ;D

Plus we knew Dirk would run himself into the ground up top. If we had been chasing the game then I'm sure we would have seen Luis.

It reminded me of when we'd buy players and they'd get a couple of months playing reserve footy til they 'got it'.

I think if Raul wouldn't have scored we'd have used him. As it stands I think it also served as a sly dig at Chelsea.

I think kenny had a big challenge fitting Carroll and Suarez in this new system. He will think of something.

Eh ? Or maybe, he won't play that system at all with them...

On why Luis Suarez did not feature, The King explained: "Suarez is a fantastic footballer. He got off to a great start in the week scoring a goal and we're looking forward to him getting in the team on a more regular basis.

"I think it's only correct that he gets a little bit of time to bed in and settle down and he's had that now. He's a happy, smiley guy and I'm sure he'll be smiling now."

Hats off to Kenny for doing the right thing and leaving him on the bench. Had we been chasing the game he'd have surely been brought on.

Ancelotti, however, after a brilliant performance against Sunderland broke up that team and system and look where it got them. Surely the right option would have been to leave Torres on bench especially as it was such a massive game against in form Liverpool?

I'm hoping Abramovich exerted pressure on Ancelotti to play him no matter what.

That's my suspiciion. Chelsea needed a midfielder more then they needed Torres.

We shouldn't risk a result to flash off our new purchase. Look at Chelsea 😀

Kenny done the right thing. He probably expected and intensely physical game and didn't think it was worth the risk considering that Suarez hasn't really trained.

So much for our thin squad that lacks quality!

Today was symptomatic of the difference between the clubs.

They wanted to be all flash, showing off their new, £50m asset, we had an asset of our own, but wanted the points.

When I think of today's game, "very disappointed" doesn't really come to mind.

Was my dad's birthday today. He is a very happy man.

On the contrary, I think the change to this system is for the rest of the season to accomodate them; Suarez playing just behind Carroll, Meireles partnering Gerrard and Lucas in the middle.

Heh, was my mums birthday. Went round for a small get together and then out for the match. Her husband is a blue nose, he said we'd get beat 2-0 with Torres scoring. Good day all round.

Yeah, he's too good not to. But still there are rumours how Torres was Abramovic's signing like Sheva and it could do them some harm at least on short term.

the other bonus of not playing suarez is the message and pain it will inflict upon torres. he can't now say, oh see we're better off with the £50m we spent. torres was beaten by the team he walked out on, and nobody else.

so if liverpool were so shit in his mind, and chelsea were such a top team, el cunt has some thinking to do about today's performance and what it is that's changed for us and them in the last week. it's like a spot the difference game. can you spot the difference you cunt? yes that's right. its you. hahahahahaha

Perhaps he was but if Ancelotti was to pick a replacement for Anelka/Drogba I'm sure he'd happily go for Torres. Sheva was an aged over the hill footballer going for the last big pay check. Torres is still a class act & hungry for trophies (whether we want to admit it or not)
