I don't often find myself being directly angry with how we are run as a club or whatever half-daft decisions our manager or player makes but to be honest, all this letting Carroll go bollocks - whilst not even being able to buy a half decent replacement is one of those few occasions where I care to make an exception.

We have acted like a bunch of amateurs this Window and I don't even care who's to blame. For me it's the manager, the owners the CEO. It's abysmal and I just keep my fingers crossed we'll survive untill January - and that we don't bring in Owen.

That's me venting and now looking forward. What strikers are there and who do we want? I know there's a 'free agents' thread about the same issue but that is just us continuing the downward slope if we are to panic-sign some has-been or left out. Let's not do that and instead get the right ones come January. Imo.

There are the ever so obvious candidates, Llorente, Sturridge et all but for some reason or another they aren't perhaps the most likely of candidates. Then there's the completely unknown (at least at the biggest stage) and perhaps that's where we should be looking now that we are 'building' for the future?

I don't think there's a lot of obvious candidates in either bracket at least what I know of but here's perhaps a few interesting names to at least keep our eyes on for the future, from my part of the world.

FC Copenhagens Andreas Cornelius, 19, has just been promoted to the Danish senior International side for the Checz game whilst no-one really knew about him 6 months ago. Big, powerful type that's rather decent on the ball as well and certainly seems very potent in front of goal. Never a direct Carroll-sub at this stage in time but perhaps one for the future.

Nicolai Jørgensen, 21, loanee in FC Copenhagen from Leverkusen, and one that I must admit is looking to be a great prospect. Powerful, direct and with better technical skills than most of his stature. Fast and goal-seeking and made opponent Salomon Kalou look the inferior player in the very recent Lille - FC København matches. Can play every position in the attacking half of the pitch and really could be one Rodgers should be looking at.

He probably scored the goal of the year in the Danish Superliga last night as well: 2.40 mins into the clip (Cornelius scored the first one at the start of the clip for the team wearing black shirts)

Line the starlet striker prospects up in here, if you like. Anyone know about any real prospects in the Cypriotic/Israelic leagues (LTW?), they do seem to perform rather well in Euorpe these past years.

Llorente etc will not be coming here I don't think. We cannot compete at the level players like that will leave their current clubs for, at least not yet. But the main reason is John Henry has just said they will never again pay huge wages. How would we attract someone who wants champions league and title challenging football? Huge wages. Just can't see it. We will be buying young and cheap and hoping to discover the next Henry or Van Persie (by that I mean paying 10-15 million for younger players who have not quite clicked at another big club. That's just my feelings really. Although I still dream we will one day be able to attract players like Falcao, but I wont be holding my breath.

I very much agree with your sentiments why this thread should be seen as a helping hand to Rodgers and the club in finding the new Henry, Michu or whomever that would indeed help us score goals and doesn't come with a highly prolific CV that would most likely rule us out.

*The helping hand comment was tongue in cheek if anyone didn't get that... they probably should still listen to us however.

why do you insist on advertising Danish players ? Their are talented players out there that aren't Danes you know.

I would like to know who would be on Brendan's list if he's still in charge of swansea. I also want to know who are our other options if demsey wasn't available.

We need a cheap man's Cavani or Falcao, they have great movement off the ball, can link up, good in the air and above all else are absolutely lethal. Doubt there's anyone like that for 5-10m though haha. There is one player from the argentinian lge that is like them though or should I say has the potential to be like them is a guy called Facundo Ferreyra 18yr old I believe bags of talent. We should have gone for Lacina Traore though he's a class act.

That's a good point. Who was our back up for Dempsey? Cos we should have been working that as well, so weren't left high and dry. Owner issues notwithstanding!

Fair question mate.

For the record I'm not saying we should buy all these players I am merely giving you guys a lowdown on what talent is coming through the ranks from where I'm sitting. Some will make it some won't, I will only 'go all in' if you like on the top top talents. As in not a 30-year-old Christian Poulsen-type, I promise you guys that.

I'd personally love to hear bits about upcoming Kenyan players as well for instance. That's one of the key attributes of the forum for me, to get reviews of upcoming players I haven't heard of or at least only very little from posters I respect and believe know there footy.

*And just for the record there are loads of bright talents in Danish football as of now, we are talking 80s amounts and we are as a club often well aware of them hence I reckon it could be somehow relevant even.

..just to add, there are obviously far more talents in places like South America, Africa, Eastern Europe and now Asia as well but I'd be reluctant to comment on those as I often only know about them through a youtube compilation or even worse.

Until they are good enough of course and the world knows about them and we'd be asked to pay billions.

Sturridge, they expected to get him om loan, he wanted to come but on a permanent deal.
I think the original plan was both, but they saw one or the other would have sufficed.

regards

I think we would have got both if Carroll was sold. Anyway I'm just interested to know who are on Brendan's list if he's still in swansea. We only pursued sigurdsson and no one else.

There is this Aussie lad we should try and get our hands on though, watched him during the WC last year and he looked a class above most. Plays for West Ham today if I'm not mistaken.

Did have somekind of severe illness a while back but I reckon he's walked through that storm. You know him?

Why were we so laid back about it though? It was obvious we wanted/needed to sell, so why not just say, either a loan with a permanent deal or fixed price guaranteed, or say, a £15m move in this window?

Instead we shunned the first bid and then all of a sudden, settled for the shittest bid possible so 'he' could be eligible for the Hammers first game, meanwhile we left ourselves going to the wire to get someone who wouldn't be eligible for the weekend game anyway. It was amateurish and stupid and ultimately of little benefit financially. We may aswell have paid Carroll's wages until January and looked around in the meantime.

Agreed with everything you said. I just thought we put all the eggs in the wrong basket and fall flat on our face. They must be the world's worst poker players.

Winston Reid's a Kiwi. 😉

The Aussie one is very young mind... Dylan Tombides. Looked a great prospect during the U17 WC, very classy midfielder, eye for a goal and Kaka-like at his best with silky runs with the ball at his feet. Still only around 17 so a long way to go but really liked the look of him.

Ah... Thought you might have meant the Kiwi who has Danish citizenship.
