As Rafa4PM eluded to in another thread, should Citeh not get top four they will end up managerless, & therefore Mourinho is the obvious choice.

However if they do get it & we miss out Mourinho's likely destination would be here.

So, putting aside any flaws in that logic, top four finish & keep Rafa, or miss out on the CL & get Mourinho?

i doubt we could get Jose if we had no CL so it renders my vote null and void, sorry.

Followed by another straight choice :

1. Take a piss whilst swimming in the Amazon and let the candiru fish swim up your dick where it proceeds to gorge itself on blood and flesh from the inside.

OR

2. To wear a crotchless wetsuit in another Amazon estuary filled with leeches AND/OR piranha

;D

Rafa and a CL spot for me please.

For that to happen it would mean that we'd of turned our season around and finshed very well.

+

1. The much needed extra CL money (bigger transfer kitty)
2. Still able to attract new players with the prospect of playing CL footy.
3. Our existing stars wouldn't feel the need to look elsewhere

In seriousness, the Big Dck is probably right; but in the event it IS possible; I would gamble with Maureen.

We don't know if he'll ever do it, but we know Rafa never will.

I need my top 4 finish and if Rafa manages that, especially from this current position, he deserves to stay.

While I have lost almost all confidence in Rafa, I still voted for keeping him if we make the top 4. I think failing to qualif for Champions League next year could be the start of some dark years for us.

Mancini might get another season if he finishes in the top 6.

You're not very good at this game.

😉 Both of your options would be a disaster for our club.
Rafa doesnt deserve to stay if he finishes 4th and missing out on CL football is unthinkable.

Oh, well, now you put it like that.....ah....so wise.

It's difficult to know how much significance to place on failing to finish in the top 4, how much of an effect it would have on the future. I know some on here view it as potentially catastrophic - I'm sure someone intimated that it would be the beginning of a spell in midtable that would be hard to recover from a while back - and whilst I don't want to align myself with any sort of doomsday scenario, it's hard to remain optimistic about things right now.

City are now a major threat to the top 4 and they will gain their place amongst the elite sooner rather than later it seems. That coupled with the fact that both Spurs and Villa have a pretty rock solid management team with money to spend makes me think that we miss out on the CL at our peril this year (of all years).

This year has to be about getting into the CL next year and making sure we have a decent platform which to build from in the summer. Next season is going to be difficult no matter what and we need to make sure we're able to fight off challengers from a position of strength.

Because Rafa staying put or Liverpool finishing outside the top four is equally unplatable to Le Chac perhaps.?

edit ; Looks like I guessed right.

Oh. I forgot, 4th place of course.

4th. I don't give a shite who the manager is as long as they do what we need them to do. This season may be a right off, but if he can turn it around then fine for one more year.

Good post Keni.
I think missing out on CL would be catastrophic. I fear a Leeds scenario in that case.
Thats not an option.
And I dont trust Rafa at all to build something for next season even with a decent platform.
We made that mistake with Houiller, we must not make the same one again with Rafa.

Finishing 4th would give Mourinho the decent platform to build for next season.
He showed he can be trusted for that task.

What ?

We MUST finish 4th this season. So I don't give a flying f#$! if Kermitt the Frog is our manager in getting us there.

That said, Rafa staying on next season is my choice in this poll only because losing him would mean losing out on the CL next season.

At this point, I want Rafa gone unless we 15 or 16 of our remaining games. But I know that's not going to happen, so...

I went for Top 4, keep Rafa. Missing out on the CL a couple of years ago to a random lucky team (like Everton managed) wouldn't be such a threat as I'd be confident we'd regain 4th a year later. But times have radically move on since then and I really don't think we can afford to slip lower than 4th in our current state. Anyway we could always 'keep' Rafa until Jan 1st 2011 as that satisfies the 'next year' criterion.

I remember during Houlliers last season people were asking similar questions. I would never want Liverpool to lose a game for any reason, even keep a manager in job who i despise. Nobody is bigger than the club.

Is the right answer.

Cant believe it took so long to get it to it.

Are you saying you despise Rafa though?

No, just used the word 'despise' for impact, although I do think he's brought us as far as he can, but could never despise a man who has given me my most enjoyable night in football, and who has tried his best for 5 years for the club.

On this topic (in bold), if it was a case of a single game and if we win Utd are champions but if we lose they aren't, what would you then choose?

Well there was a similar scenario when Blackburn won the league. HAd United beat west Ham they would have won the league as we beat Blackburn. I realised if Blackburn won then they would be gauranteed to win, still though I found it hard watching that match wanting anything other than a Liverpool win.

Blackburn springs to mind.

I stood on the Kop & cheered us on regardless, & would again.

It all turned out ok anyway. Karma.
