Clyne a doubt but the rest ok. Lovren back in training.
Best quote from Klopps presser, without a doubt:

Klopp on his 2nd pair "Now I have to be careful. They're black and I look a little bit of a serial killer." #LFC

Flanno's first senior game back (no inc. a run out at Exeter with the other kids..) might be against Arnoutovic and Shakiri - that will test his minerals!

Was just checking the away goal rule for the league cup:

  1. 13.5 In the Semi-Final ties, if the aggregate score is level at the end of the second game an extra half-hour shall be played. If the aggregate scores are still level at the end of extra time the tie shall be decided by goals scored away from home counting twice.

I want to see Flanagan and Joao Teixeira play. Benteke will probably start.

I wonder if Crouch will play given our inability to deal with tall strikers.

We have other weaknesses besides our problems dealing with tall opponents. Our CBs often wilt under the challenge of strong, physical strikers (e.g. Walters), our tracking of runners in the middle isn't great, the gap between the LB/LCB is a soft spot, our LM the past couple of games (Milner) doesn't have the pace to track a very pacy RM, and Mignolet is always good for a gaffe or two if you put enough high arcing crosses into the box and challenge his judgment.

So I think Couch is probably going to be used as a desperation sub. Their new pace and tricks setup looks more lethal, and never really brought their game in the first leg (of course, we did well too to put the clamps on them). They'll probably want to make amends in this game, especially after their last league defeat over the weekend.

A Wembley final up for grabs. Strongest possible team please.

All the players say it's one of the most important games of the season. We are 2 games from winning the first trophy in 3 (or 4?) years. Of course it's going to be the strongest team.

Yeah, it's a win at all costs game really. Getting fourth in the league is looking like a long shot, unless we suddenly stop getting so many injuries, so we should be trying to win a trophy or two.

Our CBs struggle with all types of strikers

It's long past a long shot. Strongest team and let's put it to bed early

I'm pretty sure it's illegal to use furniture in a football game, no matter how desperate you are 🙂

How is everyone feeling about this game? I'm starting to care a bit, given it's one game from a cup final, even if it is the League Cup. But such is our total absence of consistency, I'm totally clueless about what kind of performance we will get.

Klopp has talked at length about our terrible defending and total inability to defend from corners and set pieces, but he has also been quite clearly furious at how we sometimes start games with no intensity, aggression or purpose. I would expect that to be different tonight. The wonderful shambles at Norwich would encourage me to make some changes, especially in defence, but we have too many injuries for wholesale changes.

Tempted to put Flanno in, but I don't know that he would be anywhere near ready. I'd start Caulker, and frankly either one of Sakho - who has been abysmal - or Toure could drop out. Lallana has played himself back into contention after that great cameo on Saturday. I'd have Ojo and Ibe on the bench.

Lovren is back training. Much as it may have once been perverse to say this, I think he could make a big difference to our defending, if only through shouting in people's earholes. He's unlikely to be match fit, but Klopp may be so frustrated with our defending that he will throw him in.
