Some stats people might find interesting I saw on Twitter:

LFC actually have two of the best players in the air in the Top 10 of the main Five leagues according to this in Van Dijk & Matip:

I won't bore you with the rest on the list.

Kind of what I was saying in another thread: Matip has an excellent % of headed duels won, but very low number of those duels per 90 minutes (twice lower than VVD for example). In other words he needs to be more brave/active.

I'd say though that those stats can easily be manipulated by considering which player played against which team. For example if Matip's games were to exclude teams we were under pressure against, and instead be in games we dominated, then naturally the amount of crosses he faced would be lower and the same goes for corners on the attack, if the crosser (as is likely now) is deliberately aiming for VvD then of course that would boost his figure too.

Pretty much the most important figure is the % won and in that regard there's not much in it. Even though we all know VvD is an absolute monster. For the record though I do agree that VvD is aggressive in pursuing high balls into his domain 🙂
