Stan Collymore

Favouriting it does not mean that he is agreeing with it in any way. He may simply be highlighting it. He constantly seems to get the racist abuse though. Some sick horrible cunts about.

Separately it seems to be part of the job description on Talkshite to wind people up and get them to phone in.

When will people get this! If I follow someone or fave a tweet it's not necessarily an endorsement. I may want to go back to that tweet later.

The outrage bus is parked permanently on Twitter

So, Collymore calls people murderers and they racially abuse him. Seems like a fair trade of views between a bunch of utter fuckwits, although obviously this country's obsession with race clearly makes making a racist remark worse than accusing someone of being a murderer.

At the risk of quiffing, he didn't call anyone a murderer and frankly the racism he receives across the board is simply unacceptable. He does report every instance though.

*shrugs* I always have a high level of respect for him because he brings a lot of attention to and a lot of fund raising for depression

Yes, he works for Talksport, yes he's done some things wrong in his life but haven't we all? Show me a saint and I'll show you a liar.

Whilst it doesn't excuse what he's done, his depression does help explain some of his previous actions and as many sufferers know and understand, you don't cure depression as such, you just manage it better. But you still have bad days and weeks.

His work to raise the awareness of a horrible disease that's very personal to me, will always have my respect. It doesn't get him a fee pass, but people who cite his previous bad behaviour and racially abuse him? The fucking irony of it.

I actually believe him when he said he favourited the tweet to report it.

It's a perfectly normal reaction that anyone on this forum would do too yourselves.

Stan for all the controversy he attracts, does actually have an ounce of intelligence or two. So I'm not so sure he is out to cause trouble intentionally.

I pretty much agree with this.

It's normal to favourite a tweet to refer to later. I also don't think he'd do it for any other reason.

I'm a bit puzzled by the reaction to him. And in another way I'm not.

He's known for retweeting racist abuse, so I would have assumed re tweeting those comments was to highlight them not endorse them.

So favouriting a tweet calling Liverpool fans murderers is wrong, racially abusing him is wrong and Twitter is shit.

Got to love insight Mondays on SCM.

I'm guessing it's a bit like "liking" something on Facebook. You can like something simply because you like it, but equally you can like something to draw attention to it. Most sensible people can tell the difference. These idiots obviously can't.

There was an online article in a newspaper a while ago about a tragic death, and at the end it said '534 people like this'. All of these places need just one geek who has passed an English Language exam.

Twitter sounds utterly moronic.

I know exactly what you mean but there is no denying the impact it's had on the media and the way things are reported. I never tweet but I do use it as a news source. It's great on transfer deadline day for example (if you follow the right people that is)

For all his faults, I actually quite like Collymore. He often talks a lot of sense and comes across as reasonably smart.

I don't know why he didn't just report that straight away rather than favourite it so he could report it later, but I do believe that was his intention.

I don't recall him ever slagging off Liverpool or ever talking about his time with us with any bitterness. He's not a Liverpool supporter, but why should he be? He grew up in the midlands and is a Villa fan.

He fucked up here, but I do think it was only a mistake. He clearly doesn't deserve the vile reaction he received

I hope you guys realise I only take the piss out of everything because it all disgusts me. It's either point and laugh or lash out in puritanic rage and the former gets you in less trouble.

I have no faith in humanity. If anything, I have disdain for humanity for wasting so much potential. We could have been so much more.

Ditto.

It's so true. Look at daytime TV.

I love your Tweets and spend too much time working out what you're fucked on when you tweet!

I've carved myself an enclave of peace and beauty, the likes of which would probably cost about nine trillion quid in London. If it wasn't for this space I'd have probably crashed a 747 into sellafield by now.

I think it's probably inevitable you'll end your days tweeting from the depths of the Congolese jungle surrounded by a loyal band of native sex slaves.
