I have a membership card which allows me to buy match tickets.
At most I would get over two or three times a year but I had five tickets bought on the card last season.
Because of that I would have been able to get tickets for the Man U match plus the upcoming derby this season.
I have also been able to get tickets for the upcoming Arsenal and Chelsea matches without any requirement for previous match attendance.
The card cost £30.
If people want to get to any match and are prepared to shell out £30 for a membership then they will have no problem in getting a ticket if they are prepared and know what they are doing
Agreed. And this has been my more recent approach. Much cheaper than paying a tout and more satisfying too.

It's this kind of forethought, organisation and self-motivation that make you, the count, perfect to sort out the SCM Awards.

*lights sparkler*

Well done Count, and I think you have just shown some fans the way.

Maybe someone can do a Stickie with this information?

For fans who can't get over often or fans from the UK who can't come to many games?

Peter, I get utd tickets etc due to twenty two years of attending games. I pay one price for all games regardless. Whether you feel true market value for those games is treble that is irrelevant. Its all well and good having a few people willing to pay top price for tier one games but where will those people be against Swansea and Wigan ?

i don't see how that's contrary to anything i've written tbh.

Boing have stated that they are not, and never have been, interested in naming rights for any Football Stadium...

*runs out to buy 747 to support the sponsors*

Which is a very good point.
What would Boeing get out of such a sponsorship deal? It's hardly likely we are going to use an airline that has a Boeing fleet as opposed to an Airbus one.

Dem too

Is anyone arsed if there is a sponsored name on the stadium? I have this horrible feeling we would get some shithouse brand who pay top whack for the rights - And then it be called something like 'The Durex' Stadium or something.... I suppose if they paid £30mill a year I wouldn't really care....

Can you imagine the puns if it were called The Durex Stadium? 😛 Anyway I digress.... Yeah to cheaper seats I say!

In a sense it is though, peter.

As you've said, there are lots of people who'd pay good money for tickets but can't because they've already been allocated to season ticket holders and member cards; which is why they have to resort to touts and agencies and what not. There is some merit to that, but the reason its been allocated to seasies and members is because they've shown tremendous loyalty to the club, in Sunny's case 22 years, in the case of Vladders and Portly, probably even longer.

I'd love to be able to go, but not at the expense of a season holder. It's one thing to want to see us against United and Everton and be willing to pay a huge premium for that previlege.

But In many instances, I suspect lots of people who'd pay 100 pounds to see us against United would balk at paying the 38 to see us play Swansea in December.

There are plenty of exceptions of course, but that's SUnny's point i think.

It's in everyone's interests to put more seats in teh stadium though.

Yeh but I'm not suggesting ramping up prices for everyone, or not rewarding loyalty, or catering to those fans at the expense of others - after all, if rumoured numbers are true then there'll be an extra 30k seats to fill!!

And I'm sorry, but I'm just not won over by the implication that fans only attend games out of some kind of loyalty. Yes, to an extent, but I'd have thought the majority of them get a lot of pleasure (at the direct expense of a number of other fans' pleasure) most of the time.

But yeh, there is a ruthless commercial aspect to it too, but I'd be much more apologetic for that if my previous heartfelt suggestions on here for fans to stand together and make a stand against sky and high ticket prices hadn't elicited precisely fuck all response!!

Oh you get pleasure mate undeniably but there's also times where you get the down sides and there's been plenty of those over the last few years. I remember a year ago when we had 3 spares for Wigan and you could not give them away. It's when you pay upfront for stuff you have an inkling won't be the most fun in the world when you tend to get your loyalty.

Everytime I've been over for a match the locals ive always spoke to in town locals saying they can't get tickets the OOT's take all the tickets, if there's a big family section and discounted tickets for the next generation your guaranteeing the next generation of the local support what any club needs. Its like a drug once they start going they can't stop going.

That's true enough; and it's everyone..even I find myself plotting to go back someday.

It's hard not to feel some envy reading the accounts of people going, but I had my chance and I know it'll come again

A lot of the money will be subsidized by corporate boxes that have contracts where an amazing amount of money is paid for every game and then huge catering contracts. Ticket prices depend how close you are. But a lot of cheap seats would be a great idea, should make the atmo better.
another thing i'd say is that i've never understood the almost total absence of a pricing strategy for tickets at anfield.

there should be cheap seats available, and plenty of them. but there should also be expensive seats, for people with money or who rarely get a chance of a ticket (such as me) and who are happy to pay big once or twice a year. why not have a few thousand premium seats for £80-100? i think the demand would be there.

also, most people without a season ticket will struggle to EVER get to a utd or everton game. they'd be willing to pay through the nose for the privelege of doing it just once, imo. i'd therefore investigate the possibility of having, say, 20k seats set aside for those games for such willing customers priced at perhaps £150 each.

etc
Fucking Hell peter, that posts sums up exactly whats wrong with football.....

I got an Idea, how about if you go the match every week on the trot you can show your match ticket stubs and get 1st choice for cup matches?

Or shall we just let all the rich fuckers turn up and take any seat they want
Why does being rich make someone a "fucker" Asbo? And what precisely has being "rich" got to do with being able to spend £150 on a ticket? (revenue going to the club instead of some poor "fucker&quot😉

Because I believe loyalty, like turning up to see us playing Wigan and Sunderland and getting a 'bonus' so you can then get a ticket to see us playing Everton or ManU, should come first, and not just having the money, but not wanting to see the grade B or grade C matches, but thinking just because you can throw a few hundred quid at a big match ticket gives you the fucking right to get one. OK?

At the end of the day, it's the the basic laws of economics, supply and demand that dictate ticket prices, something is worth what someone will pay.
That said I think the atmosphere would be improved if they did have a cheap section of say five near the back of the New Kop or whatever that stand might be that was pay at the turnstile that people queued up for like the old days, they would have to manage seating in unallocated seats.
It might have to be done through some sort of card scheme to staop away supporters getting in, but I am sure it could be done.
Don't disagree with any of that Vlad. What I do disagree with is the idea of having to pay more for tier 1 games just because some fans would be willing to pay a premium to watch those games whilst they forego lower tier games

"If" this is true, how come we can now get permission for a 75k stadium?
Dunno. I would guess, if the 75k figure is true, we've promised a certain amount to improving infrastructure.
